I can see that.

The arrogance that Boston had going into that game ("This is OUR YEAR!") helped do them in, I think.

But I do feel bad for Lonborg, having gone 2-0 in the series, to be brought against the Cardinals' ace on just two days' rest, while Gibson was fully rested. McCarver joked that the slider that Gibson threw for the last strike on the last batter in the last game was so fierce that the batter probably still thinks it hit him.
I think most years that's how Red Sox fans start out but more often than not are still saying maybe next year toward the end of the season. ;-D

Can't you turn down the TV volume and listen to a local radio broadcast?

I know sometimes they're not synced, but it's worth a try.

I may try that tomorrow, but the radio broadcasters are not as enjoyable to listen to IMO. I've gotten so used to Bucky and Pat....

In the car I like the radio. They are really good...really make you visualize the game.

Oh my goodness! What a game. The top half of the seventh inning took 51 minutes. Only one run scored, but there was an 18 minute delay, and at least two bench clearings.

But in the end....THE JAYS WON. On to the ALCS.

Some here might appreciate this.

When he was small, my oldest started collecting baseball cards. He said when he grew up he would sell them to buy a house.

He phoned me this week and said he had a question and the survival of his marriage depended on my answer. Did I remember his baseball card collection and is it still at my house. yes and yes. And he said "good. I thought she threw them out when we moved."

I think my favourite tweet was from the Maple Leafs.

"Congrats @BlueJays on winning ALDS! @JoeyBats19 if you could get you bat that landed on the Air Canada Centre roof, that'd be great."

That's so cool!!

Kids have been wearing Jose beard at games for a month or so. There's also a Stroman hat. I don't know if it's for sale, or just someone with season tickets wears it all the time. But, it's a baseball hat, but the top is Stroman's hair. Lol

Do people dress up to go to games in other cities? Here, you see quite a few costumes.

I've seen quite a few characters over the years. The latest was the other night at Royals' Stadium. Somebody was dressed up in a gorilla suit right behind home plate. Taunted the pitcher on the Astros on almost every pitch..LOL

Mini Jose was interviewed on tv. (By a reporter I knew as a kid.) anyway, Mini Jose will be attending another game next week, and so will his little brother...Mini Tulo. :D

This next series scares me. I would not attend. Blue Jays/Rangers already have bad blood between them. The games are always heated, with bench clearings and pitchers hitting batters, and umpires that always seems to handle it poorly.

They have announced they will open the Dome for the public to watch any out of town possible clinching games...but not elimination games.

Congrats to The Mets.

Congrats to The Mets.

Intercourse the Mets. ; )

That team . . . those guys.

It's a funny thing (or maybe not), but it's been 29 years since Bob Stanley and Calvin freakin' Schiraldi and ol' pal Billy Buck peed the World Series down their leg in Shea Stadium (in what was then considered "typical" Boston fashion). The Red Sox have exorcised whatever demons there may (or may not) have been and won three titles since then.

And I still hate the Mets.

I know, I saw your avatar and thought twice about posting. Honestly, I don't like to rub it in when someone's favorite team loses. If it's any consolation, I dislike the Argos and Maple Leafs just as much as the Blue Jays. But I'm probably not making things better with this post if you happen to be from Toronto. You know, just forget I typed anything in either post, okay? :biggrin2:
