Bah, humbug! Haunted by the ghosts of postseasons past, this year will be redemption. “And it was always said of him, that he knew how to keep the postseason well..." God bless us, every one! :)

Sox have the same problem with David Price. His grumpy a** can't win in the playoffs either.

Sox DFA'd Panda Poop today. I never thought they'd have a contract worse than what they gave Carl Crawford but this one was much worse.

Yeah, the Sox have some stinker contracts, but they’re still high in the running. How much are they on the hook for with Sandoval, Ramirez and Castillo?

They have two and half more years of Panda Poop at about $19m per year. Not sure about Hanley. he's been semi-productive so I'm ok with that deal. Castillo was about $40m total, I think.

I'd feel the same way. I wouldn't agree with him though. There are some Jays I might believe...just not Smoak.
I was an ump for a young girl’s softball league one year, before I became a coach. The parents of very young girls playing softball are some of the most vicious people alive. One coach told me it was bad enough being a coach but he would never want to be an ump. I got to telling the parents, particularly the nasty ones who positioned themselves right behind home plate, that they were all pikers in their attacks... marshmallows compared to others I've dealt with. I would joke around with them about their missed opportunities on some close calls of mine. The joking and my good-natured banter seemed to calm many of them down and they often would make their ‘opinions’ known in a fun and humorous manner.

My kids played in a league with no tryouts. Everyone was accepted. It was not supposed to be high pressure...just fun, and hopefully learning. But some of those parents....I agree. Completely out of line.

Sox are starting to separate themselves from the rest of the AL East. Have won 8 in a row now. They have a chance to cripple the Yankees this weekend. A sweep would put them 6.5 or 7 games up depending on what happens In the Yankee game tonight.

Pitching has been outstanding. Chris Sale has been sick! I haven't seen a Sox starter that dominate since a healthy Pedro.

Offense is still confoundingly streaky. Really miss Ortiz's presence in the lineup.

I'm an indians fan and still bruised from losing the series last year up 3-1. Ugh. I wish baseball was done like nfl. The parity. But in mlb the payrolls r so different. From 240m like yanks and sox to 50m like brewers and oakland. We just dont have the money. So when we lose when we have the chance like last year it really stings. Its not coincidence the tanks have like 27 championships. That's like the Steelers winning 27 Superbowls. Not a Yankee hater just the facts. Question????????? If there was a fan vote would u vote for how nfl does it or keep it like it is? Try not to be bias if ur a brewers fan or Yankees. Just what method u think is better

I would favor a salary cap. I had and uncle that played in the MLB from 1940 to 1961. Afterward he coached, then became a a scout and worked with rookies until he was 77. He took me to some of the Phillies practices and I was even a practice bat boy at times. In mid 60's, even then, I remember him telling me money was killing baseball. (Towards the end of his career he played for the Indians in 1959 and later was a coach for the Indians in 1963-64.)

Don't let the small market teams fool you. The pull in a pretty penny from tv revenue sharing and the teams that have to pay the luxury tax. Many choose not to reinvest it in their teams.

That said, a salary cap is not a bad idea. Good luck getting the Union to agree to that, though.

Deep pockets are not the end all be all for a successful organization. A deep and talented farm system is the foundation of winning teams. High end prospects can either be kept to restock your team in the future or traded for established players now.

Now having deep pockets certainly doesn't hurt :)

Yea me too. It would just be a more even playing field. But I doubt it ever will bc of the media, television ECT want the Yankees, cubs,Sox ECT of the big cities in the playoffs bc it's better for ratings which of coarse comes back to money. So just have to hope we win with the 1st contract of our players. Bc once they become big there 2nd contract there gone. I remember when we lost not 1 but 2 cy young winners back to back. Cc sabathia and then cliff lee. Man would we have had the best starting starting pitching in the league. Not to mention jim thome, Manny Ramirez and the list goes on and on. But hey, its capitalism at its best.

Agreed . The park is sweet. Every year we hit a park or 2. Trying to see them all. Top 3 in my opinion is 3rd, the indians, 2nd is pirates and 1st is the Orioles. Baltimore is just beautiful. I literally didn't want to leave my seat.
