I am a less than casual fan of baseball, but hope the Royals win tonight. I remember it being such a big deal their last trip, 1985 was before the Rockies existed, so they were kind of the home team back then. I watched most of the game last night, and will tune in tonight, too!

Good point...........:biggrin-new:

My wife is a huge baseball fan. She watches the Red Sux and has been glued to the Series. She will be going through withdrawals starting about midnight tonight (EST). But Survivor trumps even baseball......
If Survivor trumps baseball you can't really call her a huge baseball fan now can you? But don't tell her I said so. :)

Also, speed it up. The game may be played without a clock, but the fans rely on them.

My idea for speeding the game up is to not allow coaches to argue calls on the field for excessive amounts of time. No other sport allows a coach to go out on the field (or court) and argue calls for such long periods of time (most don't allow them on the field, period). Also, don't let players leave the bench when there is a fight. Do like the NBA, leave the bench, you are automatically suspended. We could probably cut 15 minutes a game out just keeping the coach off the field.

The time some pitchers take between pitches is a joke. The number of times a catcher visits the mound an inning and the number of times a batter steps out of the box/ calls time are other areas that need to addressed. America's pastime has become America's slumbertime.......

I think there should be a 15 second mandatory pitch rule from the time a batter steps into the batter's box (and 5 seconds for the batter to be ready for the pitch after stepping into the box). I've actually gotten into the habit of channel switching between pitches given there is so much time between pitches.

And I have to admit I like the bench clearing brawls, and when a batter charges the mound after intentionally being hit. But I agree that the manager should stay off the field. I can guarantee the umps can hear you loud and clear from the dugout. I've been threatened with ejection several times because of it by the umps, as we are not allowed to go onto a field to protest. In order to protest a call, we have to call a time out and the ump comes over and visits us.
