    Hi folks

So, I'm racking my brains to think of the best passage in which Stephen King describes or talks about love. I could really use some help!

I've read a lot of King over the years and have always really connected to the way he brings to life the reality and romance of relationships. The reason for my quest is that I'm getting married in a few weeks and thought that one of these passages would be perfect for a reading. Clearly it's not a religious or terribly traditional wedding! I've tried skimming over the books I remember having great love stories - Rose Madder, Lisey's Story and Wizard and Glass but it's so tough to pull out those sections. I haven't managed to pinpoint a solid section, only awesome one liners here and there.

Does anyone have any favourite passages they remember and could you let me know which books (and if possible, which chapters)?

Any help would be uber appreciated :) x

    Welcome... :)

Well, one of my favourites is: "If you love me, then love me." But, you might want to leave that one for the wedding night. :biggrin2:

Wizard and Glass, I think, the description of Roland and his love for Susan Delgado was some of his best writing about love and romance,I think..you're going to have to look up the passages yourself tho or that would be cheating!:grinning:

See you are pressed for time,so here is one from Wizard.. "She had time to consider his eyes, eyes of that blue which is the color of the sky at at first light of morning. She had time to think of him on the Drop, riding Rusher flat out with his black hair flying back from his temples and his neckerchief rippling;to see him laughing with an ease and freedom he would never find again in the long life that stretched out for him beyond hers, and it was his laughter she took with her as she went out, fleeing the light and heat into the silky, consoling dark, calling to him over and over as she went, calling bird and bear and hare and fish.."

and from Hearts in Atlantis.. "Sometimes when you're young, you have moments of such happiness, you think you're living on someplace magical, like Atlantis must have been. Then we grow up and our hearts break in two.."

Excuse the silly joke and congratulations!

I am just starting to read Wizard and Glass so I had to skip over a couple of posts above, but I would have to say that book sounds like your best bet!

The most important things are the hardest things to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them - words shrink things that seemed limitless when they were in your head to no more than living size when they're brought out. But it's more than that, isn't it? The most important things lie too close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you've said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while you were saying it. That's the worst, I think. When the secret stays locked within not for want of a teller, but for want of an understanding ear.

    Ah, ain't it the truth?
Is this from Doctor Sleep? I know it's from something I've read recently because my memory sucks.

Edit: Nope, I googled. I haven't read Different Seasons yet.

Consider this jewel on the wedding night: "I've never searched for love. I just let it happen." Not from Stephen King, but the thought has always resonated with me. Otherwise you might try Insomnia. Sure to find some gems there.

Love it. But yes, probably not one for my (rather traditional British professor type) dad to be reading at our blessing ;)

Here is one (but not Stephen King):

    "From this day forward"

    From this day forward,
    You shall not walk alone.
My heart will be your shelter,
And my arms will be your home.

...It is, as has been stated-from Different Seasons a collection of novellas, and this was taken from The Body on which the movie Stand By Me was based...it seemed most appropriate for the hardest emotion of all to define-that of love....I hope the nuptials are wonderful and hope this helps things be a touch more romantic and profound then they were already going to be...
