Here is a great Neil Young song buried on his worst album, "Landing On Water." It's a scathing attack on David Crosby (who was battling all kinds of drug issues at the time) and 60s ideology. Neil starts the song off by mocking one of his own songs and then the 60s and Crosby with lyrics like, "and the wooden ships were just a hippie dream, capsized in excess... " and "Another flower child goes to seed In an ether-filled room of meat-hooks It's so ugly"
Despite the synths and the 80s sound, it's still great. The rest of the album sucks, however.

Ah, yes, the Geffen years. Not exactly Neil's finest records, but there are indeed some gems on those albums. Despite, as you correctly points out, the horrible production and terrible use of synths.

He really came back with a vengeance with 1990's Ragged Glory, still one of my favourite Neil Young albums.

Thanks for posting!
