We usually stay home by ourselves or with grandkids and toast it in quietly with a specific sparking wine, the same one each year. This year, I just found out, the grandkids aren't coming over, and a couple of the adult kids have invited us out with them. We might. If we don't, it's back to the Schramsberg Blanc de Blanc, which is not a bad way to go.

We stopped going out on 12/31 many years ago because in our area, people tend to think that this last day of the year should be spent wrapped around a bottle of hooch then driving themselves home. Do you have big plans for tonight??

Nah. Our friends are opening a brewery tomorrow night, so we're going to spend tonight doing last-minute cleaning, building, organizing, etc. At midnight we'll probably share a glass of wine or beer. Very low-key. We're not big on wild parties. Wishing everyone the best in the coming year.

That sounds awesome! (Well, not the child being sick or poor dog.) Dance a song or two for me!

Happy New Year! Hugs!

On hour 2 of the party :) Child #2 ended up going out after all (after eating crap food, of course--lol), but #3 is feeling much better (I suspect she was shamming to get out of helping her grandma move houses today :D), and puppers is feeling a bit better, I think. Men At Work is currently wailing "Who Can it Be Now?", but it's almost Avengers time.

Have a safe and happy New Year's Eve, my friends :D

...nope, no hi-jinx here...Tracy will be getting ready for our belated Christmas tomorrow, with my son being home and I will be getting underfoot which I'm quite masterful at...today is also our 21st wedding anniversary-which I think we'll celebrate on Saturday when she has the day off work and the "get everything ready & nice" stressors are over for her....
Happy Anniversary and Happy New Year, Scott and Tracy!!!

No party here, just me and the family hanging out. A happy New Year said aloud to the wife and kids, then a New Year kiss for the wife, and that's about it. We always eat the traditional meal around lunch on the first with my mom.

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope and pray that 2015 is the best year you've ever had, and that every year after is better than the one before it. I love you all!

Same here and not party people anyway. Chances are very good I'll already be in bed before midnight--just another day. Yup, have officially entered "old fart" territory.
Me too - I could barely stay awake until midnight that night!
(How goes the diet Moderator ? I have not started mine yet and I really need to shape up a bit - it's just hard right now with having a chef in the house!

Not so good--my head still isn't in the game and that's 99% of a successful diet. I'm hoping that once I can ditch the crutches, I'll be more motivated to go back to WW and do the weigh-ins as the accountability factor keeps me more honest. Not sure when I can start back on the treadmill--will ask when I go back for check-up on the 20th as that will help, too. Not being able to move around has had its impact.

I think don't be in a hurry, Mod, and that it's healthy and normal for your head to still be making sure you're adequately healed before fully reentering your life, not to mention before making a big commitment. Diets and convalescences are big lifestyle changes each.

I think you can make the commitment, but I also think be ready in case it's a different experience this time.

Absolutely--I'll be doing physical therapy once I'm off the crutches and can get that set up so may wait for them to give me advice about what not to do too soon. I don't want to jeopardize the recovery by doing too much physically but in the meantime I can do something about what I'm eating. It doesn't help that I have my daughter's wedding in September to get ready for so know I can't put it off too long. Weight does not come off the way it did in my younger days so need all the time I can get.
