American Atheists Claims 'Nobody Needs Christ During Christmas' in New Times Square Billboard
I could not care less what sign they put up there. Everyone can celebrate Christmas the way they wish. If it is without a religious aspect, then that is okay. What I do not like is when they try to get the word Christmas stricken from use. If you do not believe, that is fine. Do not tell me that it is good to keep Christ out of christmas...it is not good for me. I grew up in a country where we went to church on Christmas eve....where we celebrated with our families. We had a nativity scene...it did not send one person to hospital for looking at it. That atheist sign is not going to hurt me either.
It's a free country.
I personally support anyone putting up any sign they want, celebrating however they want: Hanukah, Kwanza, Christmas, no celebration at all or just sparkly tree worship.
If I don't care for a groups sign, I don't have to look at it. If I don't celebrate the same as someone else, then let them enjoy their celebration.
Like Staropeace said, I just don't think anyone needs to try to force others to "do as they do".
Live and Let live.
I might go up to Times Square and take a look at the billboard, then get the heck out of that crazy hive!
Human Beings are incredibly stupid. You would think that we'd been here long enough by now to have learnt how to just get on with living peacefully.
And besides, not all atheists think alike anyway. From another related article: Susan Jacoby, an atheist contributor of The Washington Post, described the group (American Atheists) as having "an unerring nose for the scent of publicity," their suit "nonsense," and their leader, "obtuse."
...I have no issues with atheists, I just don't want them cramming their non-beliefs down my throat anymore than I want God-Pounders doing the same...
