Did these eggs ever hatch? No baby pictures?
They did not hatch :( ... I will have to go back and look to see if I posted pictures of my new baby.. Crimson King, aka Crimmy. He is learning to talk. Since my youngest son has went away to college, I have taught Crimmy to call me Momma.. hahahaha .. now all he says is Momma, Momma, Momma, Momma , Momma.. etc etc etc .. and he will say, " I love you Momma" and one other word I cannot repeat lmao. He climbed up one of the kitchen chairs and fell off, he says " F...":rofl::rofl::facepalm_smiley::facepalm_smiley::facepalm_smiley: I fairly certain he learned that from my CAG " Cowboy"

I didn't know this thread was here. I'm going to read thru it as I have time, I LOVE birds with passion, but I have all these cats all my life. I've been reading up about creating a crow/raven garden, does anyone here have one? Also, something weird. My sister has this small flower bed in front of her porch and all of a sudden she has this massive stalk plant that began to mysteriously grow there, it looks like corn stalk, but its actually 'birdseed', growing in masses all over the plant. I had never thought about it, or wondered about where bird seed come from, but is this something that we just never think about it or is it something most people who know a lot about birds already know?

They are breathtaking beautiful. I have to ask, if Donald and Hillary get along? lol. Once I had taken in a pair of pidgeons that a neighborhood kid had 'captured', no idea how he did that, but for their safety I asked for them, and he gave them to me, well then a friend loaned me a cage, it was a big cage, and I put them in it. The next day, there were feathers everywhere in the cage, and each of them had hardly a feather left on them! I called the local Humane Society and someone came and she explained that they did it because they became so frustrated about being put in a cage and so they plucked each others feathers out. :icon_eek:

Your feathered family is beautiful! They seem to have lots of personality :) How intelligent are parrots? as intelligent as like a five year old human?

Alex's last words to Pepperberg were: "You be good, see you tomorrow. I love you." These were the same words that he would say every night when Pepperberg left the lab.[26]

Sorry for the bummer. Pep would make me feel bad every morning. She would look me as I uncovered he and say, 'All alone, All alone.' In a mournful voice. Then, 'Good mornin' in the same voice. All pained- like, with a sigh. yes, she could sigh. Heard it and used it for times like this.

She was messing with me.

The stinker. She was funny as heck too.

Thank you. Parrots are very smart.. yes. The most intelligent is the Congo African Grey. My Cowboy is a CAG... he is like a child to me.. lol. He loves playing pranks. He always played them on my boys when they were young. CAG's can mimic a particular person. Cowboy would call my boys in my voice... and when they would come into the room, he would just laugh!!! He does the dogs that way as well... hahahaha I have a chihuahua that loves to bark at noises... when she barks, Cowboy will tell her to get in her crate (and she does!) I could tell you so many stories.. but you get the jest. He knows what he is saying and doing... he doesn't just mimic as some parrots. CAG's are very intelligent. I hope Crimmy turns out to be half as smart.. lol. Crimmy is a Scarlet Macaw. Right now Crimmy is just a clumsy baby learning new things... he is hilarious.

I know exactly what you are saying. Pep was Congo Grey. So many stories of her antics. I would have know her previous owners father calling for Chuck and Gregg? I would know his voice. Cause they speak in human voices. Not parrot like comic things, as you know. She sounded exactly like me, when she wanted to, or a booming man voice.

Not only that. Perfect at noises. Anything from a door creaking, the telephone - then her own one sided conversation, then to a wine cork coming out of the bottle and the the glug noise when she spied one.

My poor dogs. Come, Siiit. Stay... She would fall down, and look at me and say concerned ' ooh you ok?'

You know all this :)

I hope you eventually allowed the pigeons to go out and fly around - pigeons around here fly in huge flocks all over the city - I know you can keep them in a pen on a rooftop but they have to be able to fly freely and then choose to come home to roost :)

hi Neesy, no I didn't keep them, I had asked her if she would take them, which she did since she was familiar with their needs, and at that moment they were a little banged up from each others beaks also. I had not ever intended to cage such beautiful creatures I had only done that temporarily as to figure out what to do with them, just releasing them there in the same area didn't seem like an option when the neighborhood kid who caught them, whom I talked them out of, was still out there having adventures and might catch them again. :smile2:
