There have been a couple of different mosquito related illnesses the past 2 or 3 years around me. Luckily they haven't been widespread but that can change. I've been hearing we may see a lot of rain this summer because el-nino is positioned in the spot that usually affects us. Lots of rain = lots of mosquitoes.
The black flies are already out here and the little buggers are huuuuuungry. I'd hoped the cold winter would have killed more of them off but apparently not and mosquitoes are out already, too.
Whenever we are having gargantuan amounts of rain and mosquito problems, the local news always have these helpful tips like, "be sure that you don't have any flower pots outside with standing water in them because mosquitoes can breed there." They're telling me to turn over a flower pot while I have ditches on 3 sides of me with 2 feet of water in them. I'm not sure the flower pot thing is going to do a lot of good. 
It's the New England doubleheader...........
The skitters and black flies are ready to pounce at every door....
