Netflix Original, anyone watching?

It's sort of a slow mover, but I like it. Sissy Spacek, Sam Shephard. I'm on episode 7 of 13. If anyone has seen the whole thing, I would like to hear your overall thoughts on the show.

I hope this ends good. Lots of secrets slowly being revealed, (and I like how they are doing it. snips, in flashbacks, tidbits throughout each episode revealing a little more.)

I'm on episode 9--I'm completely obsessed with this show! I love it--going on a whim and saying that is my favorite Netflix show so far! The acting and storytelling is great!

It's very suspenseful! And my dad tells me the ending is even more suspenseful.

Is season 2 official?

What a guilty pleasure that was - total binge watch! I want MORE!! =D I can't get the theme song outta my head!

OMG! It's awesome! I love the theme song and 'Pinot Noir!' LOL. It's a very charming show! (Now we have to wait a year for season 2 :()

And I just finished Bloodline the other day. WOW! All I can say is that season 2 can't come soon enough!
Danny has a son?!?! DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING. I'm guessing he is the one who saw John and Keven leave Danny's house after they planted all that stuff in his house? I love Kyle Chandler, but I must say that Ben Mendolhson (Danny) stole the show for me. Danny infuriated me, but he was such a complex and unpredictable character. The whole cast was great, though. I just love the way it was shot, and I found the pace perfect. Wasn't slow for me at all, it was just right. I like how each episode unravels information piece by piece. It was a very suspenseful show--I enjoyed every minute of it!

I also loved it. I didn't mean it was slow in the nothing going on sense. I meant sort of a lazy florida slow. I can't explain it. Danny was a great character. Just great.
Yes, what are they going to do about this son? If they will kill a brother, they are going to ahve to kill this son to keep their secret. Some little teenage s*it is going to deal fairly with them? I don't think so. Lots of trouble ahead.

Oh, I totally know what you meet about the pace--it fits with the setting :) I've been reading the reviews on Netflix and the pace is one of the things they complain about--but I don't have a problem with it!=D

Yes--for sure the son is going to stir up SOMETHING. He will probably take Danny's place in that department! I wonder if Danny knew if about his son--like if they had a close relationship? (assuming it WAS the son who was wearing that blue 'Rayburn House' tshirt in Miami) Do you think he was part of the reason why Danny needed extra money to drug deal?

yes.
I'm wondering if the money he was sending to the house was for the boy to continue living? I don't know. It didn't appear he lived at the house itself. Maybe he is just an opportunistic kid who had dealings with Danny. But Danny did put John Rayburn's name in one of the money packets. Why? If the kid knew about Rayburn house, he wouldn't need that really. I loved the pace. I thought it was absolutely perfect. It just fit the south. totally.

I'm thinking he really is Danny's son. Remember that blonde girl that John met in Miami? I think her name was Beth Mackey--maybe she's the mother? Hmm, I don't why Danny did that? There could plenty of reasons knowing him LOL.

Ah yes. She seemed a little bit connected to Danny still. Maybe through this kid. The actor who played Danny did such a truthful depiction. I have known people like Danny. Skittering around from one thing to the next. Making shaky alliances. Conning. Trying to change, but too ADD to stay with it. Always looking for the angle. Not trusting. Not caring. But then caring too much. Angry. Not realizing there is a chance to be different. Not really wanting to be different. Blaming everyone. You know what I'm saying. He was so complicated!

I can't say that I've known someone like that personally, but DJ that's the perfect description of Danny in a nutshell! And also--there was a part of me that felt bad for him. No one did protect him--he was really on his own. I think there was a part of him that really wanted to reconnect with his family, but kept on saying that he wanted them to know "what it felt like."

I felt totally bad for him. But, something in him was damaged to see that his brothers and sister were just children. They were afraid of the same abusive man. Their mother told them to lie. They weren't protecting a name so much at that point, as they were protecting themselves and their family as people. They didn't want to hurt their mom. They didn't want to lose their father. And I'm sure every child in that situation hopes it will get better because there is fear there that they will lose their people. Sometimes people fear the unknown more than the devil in their midst. At least they know what to expect from that devil. Of course, as they got older, they were totally protecting their name and livelihood. Their reputation. Danny was frozen in a moment in time obviously, fixated on those tapes of children saying, "he was hit by a car." He just couldn't get past that.

Love the answer, DJ. Couldn't have said it better myself :)
