...I have purchased a myriad of books from the site and have never once had a problem....sorry for the bad experiences....I would be happy to but one for you if you wish...

I am going to look locally for awhile longer. But, if no luck I will take you up on your kind offer. I did find a 1st edition
of the paperback of Pet Sematary at VV last week for 25cents. It's in excellent condition; I don't think it has ever
been read.

I've been looking for a hardcover of Pet Sematary for a long time. Everywhere I've looked, so far, no
luck. But being on this MB has really taught me a lot about books and what to look for and where to
look for them. Everyone has been so helpful with their experience and advice. In the early days, when
I was replacing the SK collection I lost I was replacing books one at a time by paying full price from a
local bookstore. That was a slow and expensive route to go. Now I am at used book stores, thrift stores
and on websites and having great success at finding what I want for a decent price. It is also a lot of fun
looking for these books now! A real Saturday adventure for me.

Are you looking for a particular copy (HB, PB, 1st edition, not visibly read)? I see Pet Sematery at 2nd hand and thrift stores here all the time, usually for $2.99 or less. If you want me to look (when you're done hunting--I know I enjoy looking at stores/flea market/ etc WAY more than online shopping :D), I'd gladly do so and pick it up for you :)

There are two different states of the dust jacket for the first printing of Pet Sematary. The first has Tabitha's novel as coming out in 1982, where the second corrects this to 1983. Either is collectible. It's REALLY hard to find a first printing of Pet Sematary with the dust jacket in fine condition. That jacket shows wear very easily, and if you want a fine copy, it can get expensive.

I'm finding it difficult to find a nice, original copy of The Talisman, as well. I have a well-loved copy (original and read umpteen times, dust jacket long gone), but it would be nice to have a pretty copy. Looking, looking... someday I'll find it :)

I have gotten most of the books in my collection in pocket. Many in used bookstores (since i wanted them all in english so i had to take out my translations that i started with). The later ones i have bought directly from the store on arrivalday. Only read one to pieces and that was IT, had to buy a new copy of that one. So i have replaced many original hardcovers in swedish translation with english pockets.

No matter how good a translater is you miss out on many nuances. Nowadays i read practically all my english and american authors in original language.

Depends on what kind of collection you are building. You can get stuff from Cemetary Dance which I am sure have been inspected as far as signatures go.I have got many King related items off Ebay and have been thrilled.I have three ARC's that I got from three different sellers for pretty cheap and they all arrived in perfect condition. Also got My Pretty Pony Off Ebay and a collectors edition of Desperation(looks like new). I guess I haven't really had a bad Ebay experience when it comes to SK.I would never buy a signed King book off Ebay as there is no way to prove it's real but that's ok......because I watched Stephen King sign my copy of Revival:) ....insert happy dance here......

I use the Amazon Marketplace. I bought (what is supposed to be, we'll see when it arrives) a first edition hardcover copy of IT for $5.50 shipped. You can't inspect it and most of the time the descriptions are usually generic, but it's good for me since I live in a small town where the local library didn't have any King last time I was there and there aren't any bookstores around. Most books on the market place are $0.01 and $3.99 shipping. You just have to dig around a little, and don't use the mobile site, they hide the old editions that are in the marketplace on the mobile site. Happy Hunting! =D

I just bought The Talisman at a second hand book store here in Kelowna. It is in very good shape and so is the dust cover.
It's published by Viking and it was $7.50, but not a first edition. They had 3 more too. All of them have the same dust jacket as shown in 'The Library' of this website.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not aware of any thrift or used book stores in my area. I will check out good will though I'm looking for more 1st edition s and limited edition s of the books I like. For instance I loved 11/22/63. My first king book but the limited is on ebay for 850. I'm mean cmon really. I can get a 30 year old 1st edition gunslinger for less. People like that r worthless. Another question for yunes. . Is there a book price guide. Every hobby in the world has one.

I have a nice collection of books.. the only author I make a point in collecting is SK. I have only bought from Amazon and from stores when they first come out. I just don't like ebay for some reason.. and I won't use paypal anymore , I don't trust them.

I haven't been to goodwill or thrift stores or used book stores... but I so want to go and start looking for SK books. I keep hearing how people find first editions and rare books there all the time.
