The Darkside of the Moon (England really)
I think most people would say books - a books just has something extra to it, like a cosy sense of comfort (or maybe it's just me). I have an e-reader (kobo, not kindle) and I have read both in bed and that same feeling just isn't there with the kobo.

An e-reader is a brilliant thing though as it gives people a chance to carry a much more portable version of a book (I know what copy of the stand or it I would rather lug around with me on a train or a bus), also - and more importantly, it allows the short sighted to change font size or the arthritic to hold something light and turn pages with a simple touch. It gives people who were losing their physical ability to read books another chance.

I'd much prefer a book in my hand but I'd never get rid of my kobo (unless it was for a better one).

I prefer books but I have two kindles, an earlier version and a later-day version, not sure of the model maybe a kindle fire? Turned around on the stool and opened a drawer...kindle fire hd. But from 2010 to today I've read 711 stories, more if you count the shorts, 83 for the year, and 711 books take up space. I like what the kindle can do, highlight a word or phrase. I like to "index" most stories I read 'cause if second best has to try harder, last place has to run like hail to catch up and that's been the story of my life. The class would read a story or novel...once...I'd read it two or three times and still struggle with the questions. What would be great is if the kindle folk would make a way for a reader to manipulate the information you highlight, some sort of word processing capability. I like the search function of the kindle. You want to know about a word, you can look at all of its uses in a story. Green. Say you want to know how often the word green is used in The Waste Lands, you can do it. Four-hundred and eighty-five. Don't shoot...just kidding...or almost. I think I probably counted the word but I read the paperback. See anything green? Now someone can call in and say a reader can manipulate the notes and highlights. Surprised some business tycoon hasn't come up with Rent-a-Fourth-Grader...maybe its in the Yellow Pages? Tryin' to resist the urge to look...be right back.

Before digging, call MISS DIG at 1-800-481-7171...little note there on page 109. Should have called her before I dug through the drawer. You notice the white pages are getting thinner? Thinner! Superior and United Rentals...extensive inventory of used fourth-graders available for purchase. Imagine that. Resale Shops...Residential Care Facilities...Resorts.

I go through phases...read a lot on the kindle...back to books, often used. I think I read that the publishers like the paperless version, the fabled profit margin...more steaks and ale and time on the links, hobnobbing with the powerful and influential.

I love both - books are special and more than just about reading. In love with bookshelves with lots of books.

But I love my kindle. I travel a lot and I read quickly (when I have time) so kindle is my main go to if I have trips ahead.

Favourite authors tend to be in book form. But new authors can make more money on kindles rather than having to try and find a publisher who rarely takes risks now.

Depends on the circumstances. Lots of pros and cons. It's difficult to read an e-book outside particularly if the sun is shining. Makes the screen dim and hard to read. Also have to be concerned about getting it wet if you take it someplace like the beach or pool. Books are much better for the outdoors. It is nice to read a review of a new book, however, and be able to download it five minutes later. And if it is a long, heavy book it is much easy to hold in e-form. You also don't have to worry about storing them when done. I just moved about a hundred books into storage. No easy task. Pictures are not so great on an ebook. Interestingly, unlike most e-devices, I see mostly older folks with them. I read somewhere that younger kids prefer traditional books for some reason.

I love actual books; I was a Lit major in college and have my teaching degree in secondary education, English. That said, you would have to kill me in order to take my Kindle away from me. As a lover of reading, I find it indespensable. Things like the built-in dictionary and search functions are features I can no longer read without. :)

I love my kindle and wouldn't be without it. I also love physical books and can't see myself not having shelves full of them. I think my buying trends have stayed pretty much 50-50, between the two forms.
I'll be honest and say that the only physical books I've bought since getting a Kindle have been SK first editions on the day of release.

Oh yes. SK books are a definite, always physical purchase on days of release. I have bought some of them for my kindle as well, though. My last rereads of It and The Stand were on my kindle. :)

I seem to be more willing to try a new author (new authors and new to me authors) in kindle form than physical. Then, going forward, I might get them in physical form, if I really liked them.

Books.
The Kindle can influence my reading experience a lot, and not in a good way. For some reason, the story feels cold to me. Weird, right? I only use it if I can't get the book in paper format.
