I havn't read 1408. I wanted to but forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder :)

I loved Rose Red :) but its not the story I'm thinking about. The story I'm thinking about reminded me of the Winchester house.
The only other one I can think of was The House on Maple Street but not sure that fits your description. Rose Red was the screenplay that was partly based on the Winchester House.

I have just discovered a whole lot of made for tv films on Youtube, that were never available/released in NZ before. Just amazing, stuff like House of Evil, Don't Look in The Basement (bad), Terror On The Beach, etc, etc, Born Innocent plus a raft of others. Such depths to be plumbed.!! Surviving, with Molly Ringwald, Murder in the Hamptons, I keep watching them through the wee hours, really enjoying the ride!! Has anyone seen Rollercoaster? That's not too bad...kind of, dumb ending, but good, colourful fun.

I love made for TV films of the eighties and nineties, just the best atmosphere and era!! A lot of them seem to be set in NE as well...

You need to check out Trilogy Of Terror starring Karen Black. Was written by Richard Matheson for television and when it aired it scared the crap out of us! Especially chilling is the last segment, based on Matheson's own story entitled 'Prey'.

Thanks so much, will do. Watched a ridiculous one last night called Wheels of Terror, bad but funny too. Like Duel on drugs or something! So so wish I was an American chic at times. sigh...nice to dream lol I feel like I missed out on a flood of stuff, and so much better than the TV junk of today. I loathe the overplayed and slick look of today's TV movies. The characters don't feel or look real. The 70's has a nice soft focus look. Still, NZ is a blessed land of plenty to live in, I am grateful really. Count your blessings. Sorry, bit of a ramble here.

Book I would like to see S.K. write, I just received Revival and am down to the last few pages, I like that he has tackled religion and wrapped another world and views into that. I also crave certain things when I receive a new S.K book, the first is I find myself looking for a cross reference to a character/place from a previous novel, it's like seeing an old friend again or revisiting an old familiar neighborhood! I also look forward to meeting the new characters and hearing their stories, where they've been, where they are going...I would really like an eagle eye view of all the characters as seen looking at them from another world/view, and know how they are, maybe if they died since I last read about them, revisit all the old familiar places...I believe that would be a very interesting read (for me at least) and I have all the faith that S.K. could pull that off too! The first S.K. book I read when I was 16, in high school, living at home, no kids....now 20 years later, reading his latest book, there's been a lot of water under the bridge between then and now. Bet there's been a lot of water under the bridge for all the survivors of the S.K. novels too! If nothing else, I like to extend my thanks to S.K. for all these years of stories, you have taken my mind to places I would have never dreamed of!

well said. lots of water under the bridge, oh I wish I could be that fourteen year old again, reading Carrie for the first time and my first King book, with it all ahead of me, knowing what I know now. I am at college now as a middle ager, cause I didn't go when I should have. Ah well!! The world without King novels in it, would have been so much the poorer!! He has defined the world of modern fiction.
