I'm kind of hating the James bond puns but that's good. That made me chuckle. The Spy Who Loved the Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon
Would the apocalyptic event involve the water in any way? I'm wondering just how much danger these characters should face on a moment by moment basis. What if the only information that they had was via social media- only it turned out to be like War of the Worlds, only this time the "Orson Wells" figure is the jack from another book. (Jack, change agent, call him Otto or something) They might revert to survival roles -Lord of the Flys mode, or worse: "Donner Mode".I suppose he could do Bond, maybe a short story set in that universe. I would imagine he would do well with the villain interrogating the spy.
I would like to see him write a short book, maybe Carrie length, about someone who is maybe trapped in a lighthouse during some sort of apocalyptic event, and all the person gets are Twitter messages, Facebook messages, YouTube videos, etc., as devices to learn about and chronicle the event. Perhaps it could be more than one person -- a few teens break into an abandoned lighthouse one Halloween, Christmas Eve, whatever, bring a lot of food for a party, and they have to stay there when whatever it is that goes wrong happens. Their connection to the world is their phones.

Set at Nubble Light.
Did I misspell Lord of the Flies? Yes, and let me assure you that it was an intentional error (believe that and I'll sell you another). I'm pleased that you are here right now because was just taking a moment to quietly reflect on a few of today's threads.I think it would not involve the water mostly, but maybe at the end something -- maybe some sort of ship, perhaps military -- sails toward the lighthouse. That actually is a pretty good idea -- the cannibalism angle, which I did not think about, or the Lord of the Flies angle. Your suggestions make me wish King really would do this.
Funny you should say that! I was with my teenager the other day at Fry's and the power was out. He recently read Lord of the Flies for school and that had nothing to do with the power outage. When he was younger we would have fun in situations like that, making up scary scenarios to explain the situation.A sequel to 'The Mist'. I'd love to see what happens after they make it out of the supermarket...

Update on Salem's Lot. Mike Ryerson in particular.Like I said before,I reckon it would be good to see how Mike Ryerson turned out as a vampire. He was a pretty ordinary guy in real life but I reckon he would have been a good? vampire, once he got to work ou his hunger. Maybe just going to the abattoir and getting fresh pig's blood. Cujo would be good for a sequel but I don't see how he could do it seeing the dog died, and if he creates another dog, well it's like been there already. Another one he could do is seeing how Andy is getting along from Shawshank Redemption(by the way it is a bit weird how 'Shawshank' comes up as spelled incorrect on Stephen King's website). I'd like it if Captain Hadley escaped from prison and goes on a mission to kill Andy because he thinks Andy wrecked his life.
