Started reading the bosch series by Michael connelly. There like 16 of em. I read the last coyote which is the 4th book. No real problem reading out of order from what I can see but I'm going to go back and start with 1 which is black echo. These are thrillers and reminds me of jack reacher books

You can read them out of order without any problem but you will get a little more out of them by reading them in order. There are characters and story lines that span multiple books. Another interesting aspect about the Bosch books (and his others) is the City of Los Angeles. The city is basically a character in all of these books and Connelly weaves real life City events, like riots, police corruption and famous trials like OJ into the stories. I've read them in order up to Nine Dragons (including the other novels that are not Bosch). I've got 7 Connelly books to go and I will have read them all. I love the Bosch series.

I started out of order too. Found City of Bones at the used bookstore and read it without initially knowing it was a series. I liked it - gave it to my mom to read after I was done and she enjoyed it as well. Bought her The Black Box (on clearance at B&N). Would like to start at the beginning now - thanks for the tip fljoe0 ! :) . Makes me miss the Lou Boldt series by Ridley Pearson. My mom and I have read all of those books (wish he'd write another one someday!). I enjoyed the Connelly book more than I did the one Jack Reacher novel I read (Never Go Back).

Must break the all positive trend here, sadly enough. I think the Bosch books started out great but now i find them going on a little routine. Not bad at all, far from it, but not the books they were.
(i agree with morgan btw i also like the bosch books better than the Reacher books. They did not start going on repeat so soon)
