Terry b I'm glad you haven't had your cancer back.
I quit 2yrs 6mths ago about 1 month after I was told I had Breast cancer. I used patches for 3 months and have surprised myself and haven't had 1 smoke since.
I also now have some money in the bank as smokes here cost heaps.
At work I have to be on the smoke counter, so many people smoke even though the price is high.

I didn't notice an increase in appetite until over a year after I quit smoking. And any increase of appetite may be a coincidence I think. Just my experience. I know this isn't the case for everyone.
I don't know if it's just appetite that contributes. Cigarettes foster an oral fixation. Smokers are simply used to putting something satisfying in their mouths. If it's not the end of a cigarette, food substitutes.

I've also heard smoking can suppress hunger, and a lot of smokers skip breakfast/ lunch because they're content with a cigarette or two. That was how I was. I believe smoking also affects the metabolism as well.

I know my recent bout of stress smoking was a choice - I was stuck doing a dreadful task and I could sit at my desk and stuff my face with junk or I could step outside every few hours for a smoke (it's funny but I have never smoked in my house, not in any house we've ever own). I'm certain it was the hand to mouth thing. In the past I've taken to chewing on straws to pacify myself.

Speaking of weird dreams - not the place, I know, but lemme hijack. So last night, in my dream, I was following instructions to find two praying mantises (manti?) and when I did, they would lead me to what I was looking for (I never knew what that was), but I only managed to find half a praying mantis - there was a spider toad ( I wish I had the words to show you what this thing looked like) prowling abut that had eaten most of him, all that was left was his head and part of his shoulders and his little praying hands.

Ew, ick, it was pinkish brown and warty like a toad, but flat, like a coaster, and had 8 toad legs, but they were wiry and hairy like a spiders. It didn't hop, thanks be to God, it skittered. It was small enough that I could have stomped it dead, but terrifying enough that I didn't want to get it on my shoe.

It was a horrible dream. Worst I've had in a while.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make fun of your nightmare like that. May you have a more pleasant one tonight!

It's OK, I feel a little better now that I've spoken about it. Horrifying images though, right? Dismembered praying mantis, that will now never take me to find what I was looking for and God awful mantis-eating spider toad. It's like something out of The Mist.

Did you eat anything unusual before bed last night? This sounds like the dreams I get when I eat Chinese before bed.....

:biggrin-new:

I want to hear more about this spider-toad before I put on the patch and take nappies.......
I had a similar dream to HollyGolightly's while wearing the patch. But my dream instead led me to the life and death struggle of Mantis versus Mothra. The really scary thing was, come morning, this appeared in the photo section of my cellphone. Scary I say!
