I've also heard smoking can suppress hunger, and a lot of smokers skip breakfast/ lunch because they're content with a cigarette or two. That was how I was. I believe smoking also affects the metabolism as well.
You are exactly right. I would often skip a snack or a meal in place of a smoke. I did that for years.

Speaking of weird dreams - not the place, I know, but lemme hijack. So last night, in my dream, I was following instructions to find two praying mantises (manti?) and when I did, they would lead me to what I was looking for (I never knew what that was), but I only managed to find half a praying mantis - there was a spider toad ( I wish I had the words to show you what this thing looked like) prowling abut that had eaten most of him, all that was left was his head and part of his shoulders and his little praying hands.

A few weeks ago, I had a dream where I was bitten by several tiny spiders which had some flesh eating venom. It was only slightly unsettling. :cool2:

When I quit, I didn't increase my diet much for the first year or so. After that, I was definitely eating more. Only gained 15 pounds or so. Cigarettes do go well with coffee, I found. Even better with beer. :very_drunk:

There wasn't much I didn't think went better with a smoke back then. I obsessively chew toothpicks these days, ten years later.....

That must be true Nate, my boyfriend is a smoker (I have talked to him to quit smoking but he still smoke) and he never eat breakfast
during the morning before work. Sometimes when he come home after work and I've made some food for us, he just says he isn't
hungry. Yes he is eating the food I made for us but later. I don't like when he is smoking and he tried to quit earlier this fall but couldn't
now he is smoking again.

I chew gum. All day every day.

I think I don't gain weight 'cause I graze. I don't eat because it's *time* to eat (7am, 12pm, 7pm.). I eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm no longer hungry. One meal takes me an entire day to eat. Just two-three bites. I will eat maybe 8-10 times a day but it's a handful of raisins, two broccoli, half an orange etc.

Peace.

I call that the Toddler Diet - remember how your little one would maybe eat a chicken nugget and then play for 2 hours and come eat 2 strawberries, then in an hour drink some milk and have a cheese stick, and repeat this all day long. It's really a healthy way to eat-keeps the blood sugar even. You get what you need. I should try it.

Yeppers. My son is also a grazer. It is a healthy way to eat but nursing a grazer is difficult. This child would nurse for five minutes every forty-five minutes. No amount of cajoling or encouraging could get him to nurse more. Do you have any idea what waking up every 45 minutes day in and day out for almost a year does to a woman? :dizzy:

Have a great night!

I chew gum too... I just like that minty fresh breath. :biggrin2:

My stopping date (and time) was August 17th 2004 at 11:59pm. Smoked my last (2) rollies (because the first one wasn't satisfying enough :a11: ) and haven't lit up since.
According to the (NZ) health dept', now that 10 years have gone by, my lungs are supposed to be in the same condition as a non smokers.
(Pity my heart is a bit fubar. :biggrin2: )

I think I enjoyed the ritual of smoking as much as I did the nicotine buzz. I can remember rotating from sleep to fully awake sitting up from bed, rotating my feet to the floor, and immediately lighting a smoke first thing every morning.

Date and time...so it wasn't a momentous day for you, huh? :smile2:

Good for you!

Peace.

Well, it didn't look good in oncology to be ducking out for a smoke every couple of hours, so... my partner and I gave up during his chemo'.
It was a pretty big deal, yeah...
...and, giving up at the same time may have been a dumb idea, in hind sight.

One good thing about breaking the habit...breaking breaking the habit.

I have found that I am doing my body and soul nothing constructive by not smoking tobacco and I tend to eat the same but smoke more weed (once a day instead of once a week or once a month as I used to). My lungs are healthy and that after 30 years smoker. Two packs a week, okay...you'll still love me, dont worry.

There is a song titled 'Habits' that is popular on the 'Pop' stations lately...

There's also a song by Linkin Park called Breaking My Habit.

(Just being random)

My guess is that weed is better than tobacco, unless you prefer to keep your mind clear... I'd stick with the weed, though...

I will stick with both but in responsible and informed moderation. I should add that I have discovered by the increased intake that the new generations of hydroponic weed are dangerous. I can literally feel the focused potency tickling my lung hairs to the point of my system giving the 'yellow alert' status there. Smokin' the modern hydroponic stuff will lead to the burning away of lung hairs eventually which, unlike other body hairs, do not grow back. That would mean the return of lung disease to cronic users if continued. I prefer hash. Comes also in mild levels of potency for the casual user or those who prefer a more mellow buzz and is lung hair friendly.

Okay this week, three packs...what do you expect with nobody to flush them away when I am looking.

What do you know...like a quick two punch jab to the gut I suddenly lost all inclination for cigarettes. The mere thought of lighting one up makes me sick to my stomach. Go figure. Still, feels fine and any urge is quickly countered.
