Yes NN, honest and sweet. I just feel such fear for him though. I don't want people to be mean to him, and it sounds like they have been cruel, paparazzi taunting him.

...I don't want people to be unhappy, but I also don't understand gender identity disorder or transgender issues....and as close-minded as it may be, I'm not all that anxious to learn more...
I'm sure that she won't be left alone but I think she is tough minded and can handle it. This is a big deal because it is the most high profile athlete (by far) to ever do this. It shines a little bit of a brighter light on an issue that I certainly don't understand and most of us don't. Like GNT, I'm all for people being happy. I don't understand it but I'm sure that no one would subject themselves to this kind of ridicule and torment just for the hell of it. Hopefully, Bruce's story will help people be a little more tolerant and understanding.
Furthermore, Jenner said that he is attracted to women and is not sexually attracted to men:

This doesn't sound normal even in the context of transexuals being normal.

I hope he doesn't go the irreversible step of getting parts removed because of mental problems.

What people need to understand is that gender identity and sexual preference are two separate issues. Who you're sexually attracted to is not defined by who you are. A person is attracted to whoever they're attracted to regardless of what gender they are themselves.
It's not a mental disorder. It's identity.
I'm a little confused by this. Because if he identifies as a woman and his sexual orientation is to women, then this makes him/her a lesbian, but he/she says he/she is heterosexual. It's all very confusing. Yes, I don't want any rush for him/her to further surgery. And it sounds like that is exactly what he/she is going to do. And I think medically they have to live as a woman for a year with strict counseling before any doctor would consider further surgery.

Seriously, why couldn't a racial identity disorder be just as valid? If gender ID doesn't include sexual orientation why is it so imperative that someone be recognized as a woman and not someone who feels they are a different race be recognized as that?
I am pretty sure that he said that doctors "recommend" to live as a woman for a year. but you do not have to.
I think he says he's hetero because at the moment, even though he identifies as a woman, he is still physically a male. That might change when/if he undergoes gender reassignment surgery. He might never choose to take that step.
There are some men who live quite happily identifying as women without ever undergoing surgery. Some gay, some straight, some a little bit of both.
As strange as it might seem to some who have never heard of such things, it's not unheard of for a man to identify as a woman, live and dress as a woman, but still enjoy having sex with a woman using the bits they were born with. Same thing with a woman that identifies as a man, who takes hormones, shaves, works out and identifies as a man, yet has sexual relationships (with either men or women) quite happily with the girly bits they were born with - except for breasts. F2Ms usually have a reduction, for the purposes of identifying as a man appearance-wise.
There's more than one transgendered person in my family, so one thing I've learned is that there are a whole lot of different levels on the spectrum. Some identify without ever changing their appearance or gender. Others identify and take hormones, live and dress as the identified gender without undergoing surgery, and others that transition completely. And/or anything anywhere on that sliding scale. The one they have in common is that they know who they are, regardless of whether or not others understand or accept them.
Really don't care what he,or she,does in private life,but personally feel should have been charged with some crime for killing that poor old lady in California a few months ago..saw some of the pics and it looked like he/she was using the cell phone just before the crash..typical woman though,can't put that cell phone down..
