One more from "The Stand". This is Larry Underwood once more.

Before Captain Trips killed everyone, he was in a very bad place and
he could take a look at his life once everybody he knew was gone, so we could say the plague was a good thing for him, in the end.

Before all the real trouble started, he owed his girl Julie 500 dollars for dope.

He got a total of 7000 up front from Columbia.

He paid 1100 for a month's rent for the Malibu house, and still owes 600.

The party's expenses are:
1200 for pot,
8000 for coke,
300 for a color TV,
400 for wood paneling,
300 for the picture window facing the beach,
400 for the shag rug in the living room,
600 for booze,
400 for pizza, chips and tacos at the market.

He may have to pay if the cops come because they are disturbing the peace, and catch them with so much drugs.

Total party expenses rise up to 12000.

He put down 2500 for a Datsun Z, which he still has to finish paying (I estimate the total price was around 30000).

And now, the sad part. All the money he actually had were 800 dollars, split between cash and checking.

So it was a nice time to visit his mother at the other side of the country, it seems. :D

theater obligations?

Rehearsals and/or showings for a couple of plays. Those usually take a lot of my time.

And just today we were notified rehearsals will resume next Monday. :apthy:

My career job is as software engineer, but I do some theater at nights. :D

The bad part comes when I want more time to read, draw and play. :crushed:

I'm sorry I'm so nosy lol but will you tell us more about what you're rehearsing for? :) or... I promise I won't get upset if you tell me to mind my own beeswax lol.

One more nosy question lol...
Are you able to use your drawing skills in either your daytime job or your nighttime job?

No problem at all, you're not being nosy.

Last month I was in a short play in a concept called "Microteatro". This means 15 minute plays for an audience of 15 people in a 15 m2 room. We performed 6 times a day, 4 days a week. There were also other 12 plays going on at the same place (different rooms) at roughly the same time, so people can go in just like they go to the movies: they can choose from a different selection and see as many plays as they want. The "season" ended two weekends ago, there was one free weekend (to prepare the place for the new season) and yesterday the new plays started (I am not in any of them this time).

You can see the Facebook page for the play where I participated here (I am the one in white shorts):

About using the drawing skills at work... There have been a few instances when I have provided drawings at my day job, but there have not been many, and they were never for anything related to software, but mostly for presentations with customers where the managers wanted something different (like an animation). As for actually drawing during the day job, I can do it during long phone meetings. :glee:

In theater, though, there is less time to actually draw (because we are not sitting down as much as a software engineer does), but I have used my skills for creating posters, other ads, character designs, or even material actually used during plays.

You can see a gallery (with sub-galleries) of theater-related work here:

And that's basically it. Thanks for asking, and I hope you enjoy the answer. :D

Thanks!

Nick is polite and selfless.

Larry is a taker, remember: spoiled and selfish. Arrogant, too. He changes through the story, but that's where he is at the start (and what he would have remained if the world had not changed.

So, I would like to have more of Nick's qualities, but I am more similar to Mr. Underwood.
