Thanks. Still have to get better in using such subtle changes in the lines (see how the hands' lines in that picture look, those are really great). And the color shading is expert level.

I suppose I *can* do something like that now, but it would take me a whole day to shade each different color. I have to try to do it consistently and in a shorter time.

I am inking the next pic. It will have characters from "Duma Key".

But I am interested in what people would like to see. I mean, I will surely keep drawing my favorites, but, if enough people want some character, I may then want to give it a try. Or if everyone wants someone I want, too, then there may be more pics about that, and sooner.

I dunno, perhaps it would simply be interesting to talk about characters we like so these talks may end up as inspiration for future pics.

So far, these are the books I have read:
Carrie
'Salem's Lot
Pet Sematary
It
The Green Mile
Cell
Lisey's Story
Duma Key
Just After Sunset
Under the Dome
Full Dark, No Stars
Doctor Sleep

Currently reading "The Stand" (finished "Book I" last night) and will read "The Shining" afterwards.

And I can't write my name to save my life. :cold:

I finished the "Duma Key" picture. It has spoilers for the second half of the book, so I will mark it for spoilers.

That is Noveen (and Jack Cantori).

I even drew a background this time! =D

Just a little example of things I have to look out for before drawing any character:

Reading "The Stand", I saw Trashcan Man got the melody for his song from Tower of Power's Down To the Nightclub, which he listened when it was a popular song while he was in Terre Haute. That song was popular in 1972 (may have been popular later, too, but that was its peak, I think). He was in Terre Haute from 11 to 13 years old. Assuming a "January 1st" birthday (to equate calendar years to age), he was born somewhen during 1959-1961. If The Stand (extended version) happens in 1990, he is 29-31.

I already had pictured him as young (younger than the TV series's Trash, even if he was great at the role). Now I have a better reference for when I decide to give him a try.

In other news, I am almost done with a "Doctor Sleep" pic. I hope I can upload it later today (or early tomorrow).

In the meantime, don't forget to check the "spoiler-tagged" pic from last post (in case you want to and you already finished reading Duma Key, that is).

Finished! From "Doctor Sleep", this is Rose the Hat, rube name: Rose O'Hara. Bonus background character: Bradley Trevor. Isn't he cute and cheerful? And freckled. You know, freckles are good luck. :a17:

What media and technique do you use? I would love to see a picture from The Green Mile.

Thanks, danie.

I first do the lineart by hand. I pencil it, then ink over the pencils with a regular Bic ballpoint pen. Then I erase the pencil lines and scan the pic into my computer.

Once there, I use "The GIMP" (a free software, similar in function to Photoshop) to add the colors.

This pic is almost 10 months old, but it is the only one from "The Green Mile" I have drawn. You can see part of it as my current profile picture. It is Percy Wetmore. I wanted to focus on his being young and pretty (the movie, perfect as it is, portrayed him as less of those two things, in my opinion).

I suppose people would want other characters from "The Green Mile", and not Percy. So let me know which is the one you like to add your vote and keep it in mind.

Rose the Hat looks just how I imagined her to look... she's got the appearance and the 'tude :)

I imagine any writer of graphic novels would love for you to illustrate their story. I can't wait to see your illustrations in a graphic novel :)

Thank you. I tried to include all the things I knew about her, even the way her hat rested on her head at an impossible angle without falling off. :D

That's how I address the man.

It does sound good. Though having no idea what GNTLGNT stands for, I do not know if I'd be cutting in the best place. What if it should be GN-TLG-NT...

...

...

Man! I know now what it means! I guess it should be "GNTL".

Thanks for making me say it aloud (well, "aloud" inside my mind).

Or, you're right. "GNTL" is the adjective. "GNT" the noun.

GNT it is, then.

Thanks, GNTLGNT and Dickie Holmes. :encouragement:

Edit: Using your whole name feels weird. Is it okay to just call you Dickie, Mr. Holmes?

Other edit: Same for GNTLGNT, but I do not know if it has to be full or where to cut it if not. Can it be only GNT?
...GNT is absolutely fine, or my given name is Scott...you are welcome to use either my friend....

...it's simple shorthand for "Gentle Giant"....a longtime nickname from my full time days as a radio announcer...I still do voicework, and when I am on air-that moniker still gets used nearly 40 years down the road.....

I always read this as gee-en-tee-elle-etcetera. So it was until today that I pronounced as "gentle", then I got the rest.

You started being on air as a teen? What age was it? Since you said "nearly", it was not 14, I suppose, but 15-17 is still young enough to be impressive. :applause:
