the hair on that chin is from one of my mother in law's horses that went to the big horse farm in the sky. I made this for her for xmas that year.
Oh I love that idea.
There's a company called Tailspin bracelets that makes jewelry and keepsakes from your horse's tail. Or if you don't have one, they'll use their own. I'd love to get something from them. I keep meaning to. They're 'spensive, though. Your project reminds me of them.
:)

What's going on with Pinterest? I used to be able to go on and scroll through page after page of inspiration. Now, I get a page and this banner pops up telling me there is more to see, but won't let me see it! Are they forcing me to finally join now?
Come play with us DanaJean!

I think I'm going to have to break down and join pinterest. I will let you know when I do finally do it. I've been dragging my feet on it for like forever now. I waste so much time there, I figured being a member and making my boards and pins and crap would just keep me trapped in the rabbit hole.

Aw hell no. You have to have a Facebook page or twitter to join Pinterest? I don't have either. I am being discriminated against! I demand access to Pinterest!

Okay, I am doing this. I have been dealing with broken water pipes inside my house, insurance adjusters and I've met a ton of new workers in the last 2 weeks.

Needless to say, in the process of getting a new floor including subfloor. Having all this chaos in my house has shown me how worn out my cabinets are. Anyone have any experience with the General Finishes java gel stain that's really popular right now?

Ugg... The water pipes on our north kitchen wall froze and burst one winter. It's amazing how much damage that can cause! :(

I've never used a gel. I got the idea it was more of a film than a penetrating stain. I think I read somewhere that gels will give furniture a perfect showroom appearance. Can you use it on furniture that already has a finish? (I think that's why I was checking it out a couple years ago. I have some natural tung oiled oak furniture I'd like to darken without having to remove the old finish.)

Keep us updated on your project :)

Yes, it doesn't penetrate the wood, but yet still allows the wood grain to come through. I think you just have to lightly scuff the shiny surface of whatever you are doing just to give it a little extra something to grip too. Every post I hear about this, the people are thrilled. So I am going to do this sometime.

I'm going to try it too then :) After you try it first and figure out what all can go wrong lol.
