I think I'm going to have to break down and join pinterest. I will let you know when I do finally do it. I've been dragging my feet on it for like forever now. I waste so much time there, I figured being a member and making my boards and pins and crap would just keep me trapped in the rabbit hole.

Yes, it doesn't penetrate the wood, but yet still allows the wood grain to come through. I think you just have to lightly scuff the shiny surface of whatever you are doing just to give it a little extra something to grip too. Every post I hear about this, the people are thrilled. So I am going to do this sometime.Ugg... The water pipes on our north kitchen wall froze and burst one winter. It's amazing how much damage that can cause!
I've never used a gel. I got the idea it was more of a film than a penetrating stain. I think I read somewhere that gels will give furniture a perfect showroom appearance. Can you use it on furniture that already has a finish? (I think that's why I was checking it out a couple years ago. I have some natural tung oiled oak furniture I'd like to darken without having to remove the old finish.)
