I don't think that's what she talking about. But I do hope she used a mask when dealing with that English mold. :)

Oh yummy! is this the spooky haunted house handing out the spooky English mold taffy? Every year here now there are less and less trick or treaters, its really sad to see the tradition fading away, seems its being replaced by the fall festivals and Halloween parties, but still trying to keep it alive here, last year for the first time didn't have 1 single trick or treater. I hope so this year. I like to just make a big scary bowl of a little of everything in it, chocolates, lollipops, bubblegums, as long as they look like creepy spiders, ghouls, ghosts, zombies and eyeballs.

Nah, I was just funnin' because the Brits have a habit of adding an extra 'u' to a lot of words. :)

Do you have Halloween parades over there?

 I know what you mean, and I said English taffy but I meant to say toffee. As a matter of fact, we don't actually have a parade, but, big street celebration here, after all these years of doing basically nothing ever for Halloween, now, my small town has a 'haunted house' which they are hosting in our towns original old hotel which is purported to actually be haunted, AND theres a 'Thriller' dance in the downtown square where everyone actually dresses up, like in Thriller, and blast Michael Jackson's Thriller and Dance! Is this happening anywhere else???

I fill those little paper bags with a candy bar, stickers and a toy.Kids go NUTS when they see one of those bags.I was the same when I was a kid.Didn't even matter what was in it.And I ALWAYS buy my favorite candy bars to fill them with.......then sit on the couch after lights out and eat all the leftovers!

The woods are lovely dark and deep
I have one of those ankle injuries that plague you for life stories, also. I was about 25 and playing on the company basketball team. Went up for a rebound came down and twisted my ankle tearing just about ever ligament on one side of my foot. Turned the ankle and tour ligaments on the other side. Drove myself home (about a half hour drive) in terrible pain. Almost passed out a couple of times. Went to the hospital across the street from my house. Doctor also said I would have been better if I’d have broken it. I also had nerve damage that affected the left side of my foot. They wanted to do surgery to reattach the ligaments on both sides of the ankle, and the foot would be in a cast and I’d have to be on crutches for over six weeks. I refused. The doctor said I’ll have to have it sometime because every time I turned my ankle I would be hitting the ground. He also said I needed to wear support hose the rest of my life. He was right about hitting the ground. I can’t tell you have many times I’ve fallen into lakes while fishing after turning my ankle on shoreline rocks. The other year while coaching girls softball I stepped on a softball with that ankle and fractured it. Three weeks ago twisted it again and the pain is almost gone now. I should have gotten the operation, but now it’s just something I’ve learned to live with. Just wish I wasn’t so terrible at basketball back then which would have made the lifelong injury somewhat bearable. Young and foolish was my middle name. :)
Ankles can be very prone to injury. I am so sorry that you have had so many incidents.

Don't feel bad for me. Many of my problems were self inflicted. I've always been fiercely competitive. But the heart of Jim Thorpe and the body of a Sheldon Cooper is never a good recipe. I have a lot of good memories, though, and have learned to live with my limitations. Football, baseball, basketball, track, boxing, tennis, skiing, windsurfing, whitewater canoeing, tournament bass fishing, golfing and cycling all take it's toll on the body. You pay the price for the fun, especially later in life. And my left arm from the elbow down has remained relatively free from injury. I'll have to work on that. :)

I was scrolling through FB feed. They showed pictures of "vintage" Halloween costumes. OH MY!! they were some seriously creepy looking things. I am not talking about the plastic costume with the plastic mask (That was my Halloween era). :)
