I just looked this up - didn't know about any of her health struggles. She is a treasure and will be in my prayers. Not surprising that she wants to use her celebrity to educate and encourage others. I love her.

I miss your pepperbird too! I've heard they are great companions. I had no idea though. What a gift if we could pair every Veteran suffering from PTSD with a bird who needs them too!

Pep knew more than I did. She was polite. Said' 'go poo poo' in sad voice when she needed.
Then took her back over to spot.
And sang! badly if she wanted.. Bellow a mans voice.
Whistled beautiful, unless she wanted to annoy me, and did the bad Andy Griffith version.
Shame me when a guest was over. Saying all the wrong things. On purpose. I know she did.

Pep: (big mans voice) Hello! That's why I douche!

I had no idea their words were thought driven! that's just so amazing and sad. And precious. Have you ever thought of getting another bird? Dogs are hard unless you've got a yard, but a bird might be perfect!

They told me she was 6. I think she was much older, had to be. She would still be alive now, with a life span of 85 years or so.
She used to call out in a man's voice for CHUCK?? GREG?? What's up dudes?
I would instantly know this previous owner if I heard him speak somewhere. I used to wonder about them.
I taped her a couple of times. Going on an on. Sounded like me talking,
I played it for someone - first the sound of the phone ringing. (was her) - they did not believe it was not me saying random things and laughing.
African Greys (at least pep) do not have a 'parrot' voice.
