His and Nicole Kidman roles made me want to go take a shower afterwards and not in a good way. I felt so dirty watching the two of them, especially the scene where they first meet in the prison- just out and out gross!

I love the fact that Cusack and Jackson both are gonna be in Cell. They're two of my favorites actors, and more importantly they're major stars. Their box-office pull is huge, which means more people being more exposed to sK. Lots of people who'll see the movie will have no idea it's based on an sK story (please see Shawshank, Green Mile, etc).

Filming is now under way in Atlanta. Isabelle Fuhrman from The Hunger Games is Alice and Stacy Keach plays the headmaster. I'm not sure if they'll keep his name as in the book, where he is Charles Ardai, who runs Hard Case Crime!

Charles Ardai tells me (via Twitter): "the movie will use my name and I'm thrilled about it. Keach even has some of my rugged good looks."

    Is Tom still gay?

What I really liked was in the book we are aware he is gay and it doesn't matter. He is a good guy, but mostly he's human....and humane.

There are very few gay characters like that, and I think it's horrible he suddenly is some ex-militia or whatever.

I get that changes get made between and book and a movie. But that was a character so many young kids could see themselves in, in a world where very few movie characters fit that part.

Samuel L. Jackson said after he accepted the part that he didn't know that the character was gay in the book.

John Cusack posted a photo from the set on his Twitter account yesterday. Warning -- it's a bit gruesome:

I hold no grudge against Jackson. He is a great actor and I'm sure he'll do great in the part as it's written. I'm just really disappointed that it was written the way it was.

I did not know you could decide to change from gay to straight - is this an option? (seriously I thought you knew you were gay when you were young - honestly)

In the book he was gay. It was not a big deal and not important to the story. But I don't think he is in the movie.

I find it very disappointing that the character would be rewritten because it was someone young gay people could identify with, because he was a good guy who happened to be gay, and it wasn't what his character is about.

    I don't think I'm making sense.

...no, you're making perfect sense....in the book, it was just part of his back-story...his sexual preference didn't define him-to me, it was akin to referring to his hair color, or the fact he wore jeans...just a portion of the whole man...

Okay - thanks - I forgot about Tom in the book - thanks for the reminder!

Obviously, Sam Jackson didn't read the book, or he would have gotten the hints! :)

Maybe so, but even if that's the case he obviously didn't READ the book first! :)
