Any Charles Willeford fans here? I just finished his Hoke Moseley trilogy. Great stuff. Writes about Miami. There was a movie made out of the 1st Hoke Moseley book called Miami Blues. It has one of the Baldwin brothers in it.

I've read 20 Willeford titles, more if you consider the shorts individually...The Machine in Ward Eleven, Jake Blake, wants to attain the bottom of the pile, the mark of zero, Cathy Ames and t'other'n...what was his name, Adam...thought sometimes that if he could only find out what sin it was she had committed, why, he would sin it too--and not be here. Same way. Mabel Noyes in Tommyknockers...others through time. Cockfighter is a favorite. But yeah, the Hoke stories are a hoot...detective, but he's managing or help manage the apartment there. If you like Willeford, you'd probably enjoy Elmore Leonard if you don't already...Harry Crews...Daniel Woodrell. There's some autobiographical stuff of Willeford's ...I Was Looking For A Street...I think it is called...or maybe it is Something About a Soldier...a peeing contest. Heh!
