We sure did talk about the Mandela selfie forever.

(That was not an invitation to go back to that topic on this thread.)

I hear lawmakers are now calling for the U.S. Attorney for New Jersey to convene a federal grand jury looking into whether there was any criminal abuse of power in the incident. Perhaps they’ll copy the Obama administration’s playbook (President Obama’s Justice Department selected an avowed political supporter and donor to President Obama’s campaigns – Barbara Kay Bosserman, to lead the criminal probe into the IRS targeting of Tea Party groups.), by appointing a Christie supporter and donor to head up the investigation. I'm sure there won't be any conflict of interest, eh?

I'm not sure I'd vote for Christie but I was giving him the benefit of the doubt that his staff was responsible and he had nothing to do with it. I find it interesting that you seem to already be taking the stance that he isn't and needs to have a cover up.

It’s New Jersey! Personally, I don’t believe there are any clean hands in any of their politicians. Boy, some of the stories I could tell over the years if I didn't mind ending up in some bridge footer when they pour the concrete.

He's a Jets fan? Well now, I guess he can't be all that bad after all. And by the way, we usually beat the fishes (Dolphins), we just can't seem to beat those damn Patriots on a consistent basis.

I'm not familiar with the area, but a few things came to mind when I first heard about this.

    - do 9-1-1 dispatch not have knowledge of road closures, traffic jams, etc?
    - do all ambulances heading into the area the woman was always cross the bridge? Maybe it's different there, but if I call 9-1-1 there are at least three different bays an ambulance could be dispatched from, depending on traffic/time of day.

It wasn't clear to me from the article but what might have happened is that they got stuck in the traffic gridlock and had no way to get around it. She might have already been in the ambulance--not sure. It also appeared that there was no forewarning in this case so the 911 dispatcher may not have been aware rerouting was necessary.

This is just another example of the stupid things that happen when someone in a political office has power and is irresponsible with said power, whether it be Christie or his Aide or whoever- it's not just our governement I am referring to here, it's world wide. Just another day in the crap-hole of political life....... I have given up on the politics of the world. They're all a bunch of egotistical dumb*sses who don't even care about the 'little people' of the world anymore. All I can do anymore is laugh when this stuff happens- nothing amazes me anymore when it comes to politics.......nothing.

I don't understand why Christie's staff would do something this stupid. They had the lanes closed in retaliation to the Democratic Mayor of Fort Lee not endorsing Chris Christie? He won be a land slide anyways. Makes no sense.

I always thought Christie was going to run away with the Republican nomination in 2014, but if the media finds that he signed off on the lane closures, he's toast.

So....even if ambulance was close, appropriate hospital might have been across the bridge.

I'm not sure which day the woman died. (Day one, no notice is excusable for 9-1-1 dispatch. But by day 2 or 3 they should have realized there was a problem.)

You know, I'm not sure he will be. Presidents have done much worse and been re-elected. (Well, by the electoral college, at least.)
