Oh boy, I avoided my ten year reunion like the plague. I am in still in touch with my besties, see each other a few times a year. But it is a small town and most never left and ended up marrying each other which means they are one generation away from being six fingered.

The universal law states that any and all cool kids invariably end up staying put and leading a less interesting life then those who are not cool. From what I see on CV, things have not changed much with most people.

...Sweetheart, by all means go...go enjoy and see what the troops have turned into...I graduated in '79 and have enjoyed a couple very much-but haven't gone to the last couple, because those that I hung around with in the "Losers Club" have fallen away from going and the rest of the people are ones I wouldn't walk across the street to see...it's frickin' amazing how the cliques have survived the years....

I will give a full report. It is supposer to be a two day event. First event is a high school football game. Going to probably not attend that. Second event is golf. I don't golf. Third event sent in reservation for dinner. I am not taking anyone else, due too pricey for two people.

EXACTLY SIR! I went to my ten year reunion, I'd been married for about four years by then. Now, I'll put in a caveat here before proceeding. From the time of my senior year in high school and thru college, the early 90's I was known to associate with......a few of the shadier types in and around the U of A campus in Fayetteville, I'll leave it at that for legality purposes:) Pretty sure the statute of limitations has run out anyway;) The rumors I heard about myself at the reunion were awesome! I was told by more than one person that they had heard that I had 1)moved to California and was running dope from Cali back to Arkansas.....completely false, I've never been to California..., 2)had moved to Texas and had been arrested....completely false also, 3)Was currently on probation for drug charges......I've never been arrested. As the night went on, I seemed to be looking at everyone from outside the room as I always did in high school, never really fitting into any one clique. About two hours into the reunion, I had an epiphany. All of the people who were a$$holes in high school were still a$$holes. I told my wife this, she thought it was quite funny, so we left. We got to laughing about the whole event way home that night, she jokingly asked me "Who were you before we met?" I told her very simply, "You remember all the times I've told you that you saved my life, well, I wasn't kidding. There was just simply no way to maintain the lifestyle I was living and not have your luck run out eventually." I spent the rest of the night answering questions about my past which instead of being embarrassed about, I found myself talking her head off and laughing about. I've never been back to a class reunion for the same reasons GNT stated, the cliques are still the cliques, I didn't like many of the people I went to high school with back then, same holds true all these years later.

SwiftDogs do not go to HS reunions. My 25th would be next year. Pass.

HS for me was more like serving time. I hated school with a passion. Always did from Kindergarten on. Not so much because of the kids I was going to school with. I wasn't bullied or anything like that. I was mostly just bored to tears. I did well in the classes I was interested in (English, History, Electrical Shop) and was satisfied with just passing the rest. I kept in touch with the few people I wanted to. The rest? I'm sociable if our paths cross. Making an effort to spend an evening with a bunch of people I haven't seen in 25 years? Not interested.

I am going to a class reunion in a couple of weeks. High school was not a great time for me. However, my good friend has convinced me that I should go. Just wondering if someone has a great class reunion story to share.
I don't have a story for you as I haven't attended any high school reunions. I just wanted to tell you...have a great time! I hope it's fun. :)

Just received an invite to come home to attend 8th grade reunion. AGH!!! I was only in that class from January to June. We moved 8 times my first eight years of school. The high school alumni group keeps tracking me down AGH!! I sure wish I could find the snitch who keeps giving them my personal info. I had/have nothing in common with them as I lived in town and they lived in the suburbs, a big distance in many ways!

I've attended two different primary schools, because we moved halfway during what would be first grade if I'd lived in the USA. From the second school, a classmate organized a reunion for our class and a couple of years later the school organized a reunion because the school existed a certain number of years. I didn't attend either, as I don't look back particularly positive on my time there, but in both cases I got disappointed reactions afterwards that I didn't attend. I now think I should've gone, enjoy catching up with the ok people and just ignore the rest (or maybe discover they're ok now as well).

It also made me decide to attend a reunion organized by my first primary school, even though I have attended that one only for 2,5 years (including kindergarten) between the age of 4 and 6,5. There were even some people that recognized me immediately even having never seen me in over 20 years! I'd actually enjoyed attending and left a lot later then I had anticipated.

My secondary school has some former students that are in an association that organizes a reunion every 5 years. I attend these, but so far I'm disappointed in how many people show up. Last time only one other from my year. I think the person I've spent the most time with was actually my mother (who has attended the same school). I left quite early. I'll go again next time though, I think it's great it gets organized. It's not too far away, it might be different if I'd moved further away.

All reunions were one-evening events, no activities like football, golf or whatever as mentioned above.
