Rotisserie chicken and Hawaiian Rolls - make great sliders, purchase the chicken already cooked, pick off the bone, put some TX Pete and ranch on it for Buffalo Chicken sliders, or some Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce, add bacon and call it a club slider. Chicken is $5 and a double pack of rolls is $5 at Costco. About 40ish sliders for 10 bucks. Bag of frozen meatballs, Newman's Sockaroni Sauce, mozzarella: call them meatball sliders. I love making sliders. Get a veggie tray. Call it dinner.

I try to cook 5 nights a week, we have 1 pizza night (often Costco $10 for a huge pizza) and then there's do nothing Friday, which is always take out - my kids usually want Subway.

I don't mind cooking, I just get tired of trying to figure out what to cook. No one ever knows what they want to eat.

Last week I made a pork shoulder with Sweet Baby Ray's and served on King's Hawaiian rolls. Tater tots and chips. I'll try the rotisserie chicken idea.
Lately I've been making various soups with cornbread muffins. It does get difficult to find a recipe that is different enough to break the monotony.
I actually enjoy cooking and I've definitely improved over the past few years. I guess this is the necessity of a bachelor, lol.

Great minds, Doc!

I love soup! And I really love making soup. But no one in my family likes to eat it everyday. Whenever we actually go out to eat - I always get the soup. I want to try and make beer cheese soup soon. I've never tried it but it sounds perfect.

  • 1(75 count) bag frozen meatballs
  • 1(16 ounce) jar apricot preserves
  • 1(20 ounce) candrained pineapple chunks (less if desired)
  • 1⁄2cup brown sugar
  • 2(16 ounce) bottles barbecue sauce
  • Add everything else to the frozen meatballs and heat it all up to bubbling.
  • Put all this mess, lol, over pre-done packets of rice or make some egg noodles to pour it over. Enjoy.

Yum! We use the rotisserie chickens to make quesadillas. Pull the chicken off the bone and shred it up. Put into a skillet with a bit of oil and some taco seasoning and mix just until warm. Spread some Cheez Whiz on the inside of a tortilla, add the chicken and top with another cheez coated tortilla, then brown in a skillet with some butter. So, very good!

I see all of these yumalicious recipes on here and people talking about cooking.
I on the other hand, am a terrible cook. Just the other day I googled how to boil potatoes and how to cook bacon in the oven. I know, pretty bad ay? ;-D
One of my friends gave me a cook book for children years ago. Still have it.
My specialties are spaghetti noodles(I can boil water!)and mac and cheese.
I can't be the only undomestic(but still a goddess ;;D) out there can I?

I think I should audition for that Worst Cooks in America show.....

How about slow cooker/ crock pot meals? Basically you throw/place all the ingredients into the pot, cover and let it do its thing. They even have crock pots with timers, that way, no overcooking. Meals can be simple. Here is an easy one-- you can omit the frying of the ground beef and use a meat sauce.
I agree - and if you put it on low before leaving for work it smells great when you come home eight hours later! :):encouragement:

Make sure to get the one with a program that turns itself off and keeps the food warm

Fry something in oil or poached eggs I can't cook that good. I would probably burn the house down. I've seen Julia & Juliet and poached eggs are eaten in that movie.

This is something I do when pressed for time. I get sliced bread....add some ketchup, mustard, and relish to each slice. I get weiners and slice them lengthwise then add four sliced pieces to the bread. I cover each one with shredded cheese and brown in the oven.

Sausage that sounds yummie.:chew:

Toast Hawaii is also pretty easy and tasty.

Andy is sleeping (supposed to wake him soon) so while looking in the fridge I found about a pound or so of ground sirloin.

I decided to make meatloaf with a tomato/brown sugar sauce baked on top - guess we will figure out what sides to have with it later on

It looks something like this when it comes out of the oven:

I am a very lucky man to have a wife who loves to cook and is good at it. Going to a restaurant nowadays pales in comparison to home cooking for me. Like HollyGolightly says, her biggest issue is deciding what to cook and I am no help in that regard. I think this is because I'll eat anything and everything she makes I like. If left to my own devices I would see food as mere fuel and do as little as possible to get it down my gaping maw. I am not a refined man. :0:

That sounds delicious do1you9love? !

mal - my husband decided for no-cook Friday, he didn't want the usual take out, so he made himself dinner. Package of ramen noodles, but just the noodles - toss out the season packet. Then he poured a can of Skyline chili over the ramen. Barf. That's the most I've ever seen him cook. I love Cincinnati style chili, but you've got to put it over real pasta.

Neesy - you're a smart gal.

Seriously bad cook. Right now i'm in a micro phase and make meatballs and pizzas and other such things. Its eatable. The positive thing about this phase is that my friends say it looks like i've lost some weight. Can't check if fact or fiction but i'll trust them to know what they are talking about.

First off, PLEASE do audition for it! My daughter and I love this show are are currently watching the new season. Some of these folks just seriously crack me up!

I do love to cook and am pretty good at it, but I only get to cook on weekends/vacations. I am blessed to have a hubby that also loves to cook, works from home and does most of the shopping. We are spoiled because when we do go out to eat, we spend most of the time talking about how we would have cooked it differently and for less $$.;-D

WE DO THAT, TOO! HAHAHAHAHA!
