Dream On by Aerosmith:
By Ronnie James Dio and Yngvie Malmsteen:

I think I prefer Malmsteen/Dio, even with the OTT guitar tapping.

Bob Segar - Turn the Page:

Metallica - Turn the Page:

This is really close, metallica do good with their covers usually, this, whiskey in the jar, die die darling, Sabra Cadabra etc, they did really good on them. I think I just about prefer Metallica's version.

Magical Mystery Tour - The Beatles

Magical Mystery Tour - Cheap Trick

It might be sacrilegious, but I kinda like Cheap Trick's version better.

Rumour Has It - Adele

Rumour Has It - Sabrina Carpenter & Fin Henderson

Adele is tops, but for a 12 year old kid... WOW!

I read that Dylan really liked Jimi's version. I think every time I've ever heard Dylan do the song, he has done an electric version and not acoustic like the original from John Wesley Harding. Another interesting tidbit I read is that this is Dylan's most frequently performed song. I read he has performed it over 2,200 times (and I'm not sure how old the article was).
Dylan once said that he was surprised Hendrix didn't record more of his songs, saying, "After all, they were all his."

Neil Diamond wrote it but I like The Monkees version. Hindsight's a wonderful thing sometimes. Some of their stuff was really well-produced.
The Monkees are actually a very good band! As are The Partidge Family if you like pure pop music. The songs are well crafted and well produced and David Cassidy's voice is quite good.

Oooo, I was gonna mention this one, but Grandma and I were on our anniversary trip, and she suggested I turn off the computer, and who am I to argue.

I like Bob Seger's version. My kids, who grew up on Metallica, like Seger's version. He just puts more sincerity and emotion into it. It helps that it's the concert version.

So talking about Bob Seger:

The remake by Kenny Rogers:

Much prefer Uncle Bob's style. He had the earthy, raw, carnal song. Kenny turned it into a croonfest. Sorry, Kenny, but no.

My man Jimi's original

SRV's cover

A hard as it may be to believe, I prefer SRV's version of this. Probably the one and only Hendrix song where I prefer the cover.

The three main reasons I started playing guitar were Hendrix, SRV and EVH. Hendrix is my hands down favorite guitar player ever. People are still trying to catch up to him.

Love lies Bleeding--Funeral for a Friend

Elton first, My DT second (as part of a montage)

Dream Theater just has more manballs. I'm sorry, my compatriotically aged purists, the second is very better.

Crank it. I like them both, but in every way necessary the second resonates.

Hendrix was decades ahead of his time, a true artistic genius, imho. There's just no telling what massive amount he'd have contributed had he lived.

Whaaaaa??????? :umm:
He has just never really done it for me. Life on mars isn't bad, but I just don't like him. At Christmas, little drummer boy gets turned right off when it comes on the telly - urgh that's one of the worst. Just one of those things - every know and then there is something that you are supposed to like, but I just don't. Just like I don't have much love for the shining.
