He has just never really done it for me. Life on mars isn't bad, but I just don't like him. At Christmas, little drummer boy gets turned right off when it comes on the telly - urgh that's one of the worst. Just one of those things - every know and then there is something that you are supposed to like, but I just don't. Just like I don't have much love for the shining.
That's fair and I hear you. I was just being funny, really. I cannot stand Billy Joel. Any song of his, and I mean any single one, comes on the radio, and I immediately turn it off. His music just rubs me the wrong way.

Another one is Michael Jackson. I know it's not PC to speak ill of the dead, but I never liked his music. It was all basically the same song over and over again. And that silly "hicupping" thing he did with his voice. Yuck.

Can you believe today is the fifth anniversary of his death?

Hey, did you know Whitney Houston's song was not the original?

The original here, it was Dolly Parton's song first:
I was never a Whitney Houston fan except for one time she sang the Star Spangled Banner before a game. I'd heard about it somewhere, and one night at the place I worked one of the resident's radios was on, and I realized they were gonna play it so I stopped doing what I was doing and listened. It was the greatest rendering of the song I'd ever heard.

Not at all. No one can make anyone feel bad; it's not your fault.
And truth be told, I still don't like his music.
For years I didn't used to either. Then one day I heard something in a song I really liked, and realized how likely it was that I'd been missing out. I still don't own any CDs, but I'm interested in doing my research whenever that may happen.

This dude stopped playing football when he found out Hendrix died.

He picked up a guitar.

The Second Law of Thermo is in play.

Right on! Satriani is one of my all time faves. so, with that said, I give you this..........

Santo & Johnny (I think they were the first to record this. I could be wrong.)

Satch's cover

And a bonus Brian Setzer version

I like all three. Close but I give the edge to Setzer. Not sure why, it just speaks to me more for some reason.

I wasn't aware 'til just now the origin of this song (see first above). I like the strange quality of The Byrds' version, provided by whatever instruments they chose for the arrangement. (Note: I think The Doobie Brothers' version is just silly.)

Deep Purple's original

ChickenFoot Cover I just found

I prefer the original but this cover is good. Satriani was in Deep Purple for a brief time and Sammy just sings so well even at almost 70. Yes, Sammy is almost 70. He will be 67 on October 13th. He is only a couple months younger than my Mom :Oo:

Johnny Cash's original

Social Distortion's cover

I prefer the Social D version. Social Distortion has had major influence on my guitar playing and writing style.

This is a good one live from Social D. Room always goes bonkers.

The Supremes version was a Motown Classic....
but Vanilla Fudge get my vote 'coz it's just so "funky" with some great drumming.
