Hey all! Neither myself nor anyone I know has a crafting bone in their body. I'm asking here to see if some of you might be able to help.
I am going to a convention next month and I have a glass item that I would like to get some signatures on. Does anyone know the best kind of pen/marker/whatever for glass? I need it to dry as fast as possible, be permanent, and definitely not smudge.
I tried some research and the best so far seem to be Pilot markers but there aren't many reviews so any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!

do1you9love? and CYB are right--Sharpie would probably be the most convenient (there are paint pens that might last longer, but they take a while to dry). Definitely clear coat the item ASAP, though, 'cause even Sharpie isn't permanent on glass. If it's a vitreous china mug or something like that, though, you can make it permanent by baking the item in the oven when you get home (not sure what type of glass you're talking about :D)

Thanks for the replies! Even from the smartass directly above which doesn't surprise me one bit ;-D
I hope I didn't make a big mistake here :0: spent a pretty penny on this because I thought it would be a cool different thing to get signed. Does the krylon spray that do1you9love? mentioned take away from the luster of the glass?
Someone mentioned this one to me but it seems like it's a pain in the butt to use.

The item that I have is a crystal ball(no I'm not becoming a medium ;;D). It was a promo item for American Horror Story. Folks normally sign with sharpies at these things so if you guys think it will stay maybe I'll take my chances with those.

You could give it a test by taping off a small exposed area (e.g. put newspaper around where you don't want overspray and use painters tape to secure it to the glass). Maybe put the date that you're getting it signed using the pen you'll take in an area where it wouldn't be as easily seen and then spray it. You'd have plenty of time to figure out if it will work or cause any unintended results that you wouldn't want to be permanent.

I am an idiot. I've been thinking "I wish I could write on it and test it but what if it is permanent? What could I write??" The date of course. Great idea! Thank you for your input.

There are these lil vials of paint Becky uses. They are called DecoArt liquid rainbow. What she does is use the black color to make lil panes or diamonds on the glass...or more complicated stuff. She has it like one would see the metal on stained glass windows. With other colors, she paints the shapes in....sorta like coloring. When the paint is dry...it is clear like glass. It really looks like stained glass art. She has made some beautiful things with it...including glasses.
