Morgan, I thank-you for coming to the discussion this evening. I worked a bit extra today as a couple of people called out. I am not on top of my game this evening. Did you see any symbolism in this story? I think there is some, but I can't really tell what.

Wasn't Cthulhu also mentioned in "N." also-not to veer off topic!
Could have been, I don't remember. This is a perfect example of why it would be amazing to have a photographic memory. I could count up the amount of stories that reference arc sodiums, and Cthulhu and tell you which ones with page numbers. 8)

To be honest, I don't think about "symbolism" in SK's work as often as I probably should. What I usually "read into" or "take" from his stories is how life can change on a dime-the rug can be pulled out from under you...In his brilliant, yet often dark way-King reminds us to be thankful for what's good in our lives right now. Because at any time it can all change. He might use supernatural examples sometimes, but the message is still the same.

I completely agree. He is brilliant in relating this to us, as well as 'all that glitters is not golden.'

I wonder if something odd happened when they were in London that made them want to come back to The States in a hurry? I think that would be the question I would ask. Did something give them 'The Willies' and make them long for home?

I've never read a Harry Potter book or seen any of the movies. :a11: I think the cat could've been some kind of shape shifter. (???)
If I didn't have a kid, I wouldn't have read the books or watched the movies. We haven't finished the last book or movie... but it is okay.

They weren't there for very long, were they? Maybe it was the first time they were ever abroad (I think they were in London in the late 70's). I can only try to imagine how the King family's life was completely altered in a very short time. Living in a trailer, writing whenever he could around his work schedule-small children, no money...then BAM! everything's different and you can afford to take a vacation. Not just to Six Flags, but overseas! Can you imagine how surreal it must've been for Mr. & Mrs. King?!

Hey Morgan, Thank-you again for coming and discussing the story this evening. I am feeling like toast.jpeg tonight.
I have been saying a little prayer for you as I know you have been going through some stuff. There are a couple of people I say prayers for as this isn't an easy time of year for them either. ?next Friday night? We can do the Next story "The House on Maple Street"
.

Incredibly surreal. Also, London is a huge city, millions of people, differing accents, with amazing museums, perhaps that got to them too. Too busy, noisy, etc
