Cujo is a fabulous book. I couldn't give two cents (I have a more scatological word in mind, but I thought I'd be nice--lol) for Mr. King's personal life. Cujo is a fully formed, well written story, with great dialogue, strong characters, and the most heartbreaking (and wholly believable) ending I've ever read to any book. It's your choice whether to read it, of course, but you're cheating yourself if you don't.

I think Cujo shows what's so great about SK. Like you say, the characters and dialogue are great but I think the book shows just how gutsy SK can be. Not many (if any) popular authors would go where he went with that book. What seems like such a simple idea turns out to be a complex book. That being said, I'm more likely to re-read Pet Sematry but I think Cujo is the better book. Cujo just seems too tough an experience to go through again. ;-D

Yup. It was hard enough to read as a teen; now that I'm a parent, I don't think I could handle the end.

I voted Pet Sematary, but it's been a good long while since I've read any of these books. I'll have to reread all of them and vote with a refreshed memory.

Can't rightly recall, but Pet Sematary may have been the first novel of King that I've read (of King is correct, right, not of King's? I may have to go to the grammar board on this). Therefore, I voted for that one. Really fun. Christine, I've only read bits, but yes, I think as someone else mentioned, the quotes before the chapters are great. I also like how he switched viewpoints, and the narrative is engrossing.
