So I purchased a couple of the custom slipcases from CD that look really nice. But I started thinking that it would be fun to try and make some custom slipcases myself for my larger first editions such as the Stand and Insomnia.

Does anyone have experience in trying this? Recommendations on materials, etc.

One thing I would also like to try to do with these slipcases is build a bottom support for the text block itself to prevent gravity from pulling the spine down from the weight of the pages, which seems to be a common problem with many of my larger books. It would also be cool to figure out how to do some kind of foil colored embossing/debossing on the slipcases...but better not get ahead of myself. LOL

Any ideas?

Thanks

There is a seller on ebay that is making a lot of custom slipcases and rebinding books and using artwork from the books (don't know how they are getting away with this especially since that artwork is copyrighted). Looks like they are taking King anthologies, breaking up the stories and making them into separate books. They have a lot of King books on there........

No, it was Julie! (The Mod Squad reference) I don't know how to do links. Just look under Stephen King Antiquarian and Collectable on ebay. Should pull them up.

So, I have been watching lots of videos and researching all the materials I would need to tackle my first attempt at a custom slipcase. It looks like getting the right binders board will be key. There seem to be lots of chipboard out there, but binders board seems to have the most rigidity which would be a must for a decent slipcase, especially for a larger SK book. The hardest thing for me to find so far is the paper to use and how to do a foil embossing on the case.

My slipcase for CD edition of Blockade Billy has a faux brown leather type paper with foil embossing. It is definitely just a type of decorative paper.
