My sentiments exactly. I joined Dec 3rd 2011. John and cat in a bag were the first people to greet me. John liked a few if my posts, but then sadly he was taken ill. I never got to chat to him directly, but what I saw of his posts, were all good. And the outpouring of grief made it obvious what a great man I'd missed. Please don't bicker over who has, and who hasn't still got some of his posts. Just be thankful you read them at all. Some of us didn't get that chance.

BTW has David (I think that's his name) been to the new board?
I don't think David Dalglish has posted anything since the Board change, but I could be wrong.

Champ, I joined a month before you did and you expressed that well. That is how I knew how kind and caring the skmb was and is. I never experienced a on-line community that held each other so tight with true love in a time of deep grieving.

It was very kind and touching that David joined up just to keep everyone updated. It must have been quite an experience for him to read his father's posts on here. I am sure it pleased him.

Thanks for posting the bit you did yesterday. I must say it brought a tear to my eye. I remember re-reading Wizard and Glass and thinking about John and his wife.

I apologize if my posts seemed like bickering. I was only making the point that I saved the things that are important to me, and I really feel that others who treasured John's work, words, and advice should have done the same.
John was extremely special to me. He and I talked every day for the better part of four years.
So please forgive me because I do get my feathers ruffled when it comes to him.

I think I'll choose not to participate in this thread any longer......it causes me too much pain.

Your point is well-taken for me. One great thing is that SKMB has the saved archives, which of course include John writings and posts.

I hope that at some point, his posts will be recovered and posted so that you can share all of his wonderful words with us. He was deservedly well-loved.

Weren't there postings in groups on the old board? Are those still viewable? I'm hoping all of Sir John's writings can be recovered and shared so that everybody who knew and cared for him can revisit them.

The Groups are not visible, at least for the time being. They are archived, or whatever the correct word is for where they are, but they do still exist. I assume everything everyone of us ever posted in the Groups (which wasn't conceivably eliminated somehow for some reason long prior to the creation of the new Board) still exists. This has been an ongoing question which has been answered a number of times: the decision is not to try to run two Boards, a main one and an ancillary one. If it isn't there already, perhaps this question/answer should be included in the FAQ.

I understand that. I'm just hoping that perhaps Jordan can fetch John's postings for us and post them here. I'm not all that familiar with how these boards work, but I'm hoping that they can be activated just long enough to snag sir john's stuff then shut down again. On the sly, like. With his postings made available here, there wouldn't be a need for anybody to visit the old board. And nobody's ethics would be compromised for sharing them.

Ok. Maybe Jordan can open the Old Board publicly here long enough for the rest of us to copy/paste what we want, perhaps for a period of a few days to a week, assuming that Jordan doesn't have the time to find particular posts and that there's lots of other archived stuff people want. But, I feel safe in assuming that such a process would be quite labor-intensive for Jordan and the office, akin to setting up a complicated website only to dismantle it after a few days.

Personally, I wish I could get my hands on the entire Dalglish Road story. I'm sure there would be plenty else once I got started looking around. I wish there was a way. Maybe Jordan will figure one out.
