That gave me a much needed laugh today.
Lets' face it, we all know what dancing' hives are.
Honestly, I missed the phrase when I read the book, and "dancing hives" doesn't bring anything to mind. Hives are pretty static. They grow, they diminish, they complain (itch), but they don't "dance," at least not for me.
But I must say, being on a board that can elicit a response from Stephen King gives me the thrill of close-to-celebritydom. It's kinda like when I was coming back from overseas, waiting outside of LAX, and a station wage pulled up with CRANE(some number) on the license plate, and Bob Crane comes out, joyous, laughing with his family, greeting everyone, loading into the All-American Station Wagon. That's a true story. That brush with celebrity thing.
Well.... on the other hand, maybe Bob Crane isn't the most lovely example.
ANYWAY, if Mr. King can't explain it, and it doesn't resonate with me, I'll have to dismiss it, fuggedaboutit, and focus on the other 5,999,999 good terms in the book.
Thanks Marsha, that gave me a good laugh.
...that's my "go to" response on a daily basis!!!...
Bob Crane… that's cool!
Lmao funny answer
If a bit tragic. Mr. Crane apparently had a dark side, far removed from the happy family man with the station wagon, and did not die well.
I just KNEW he was going to say that!!
I remember. When I was looking up a picture to post on this thread, an actual photo showed up on google images of him participating in an orgy. Definitely some "firsts" for me… Bob Crane in an orgy… anyone in an orgy!
So does SK now think we are a bunch of nerds/losers who sit around all day trying to figure out the meaning of things he made up? Because if he does...
That's one question I don't think I'll run by him.
Thankee, Sai Mod!!! I don't think I wanna know.
Perhaps King wrote it in one of his less lucid moments after watching SNL.
(can't seem to get the video to work... google The Blue Brothers - King Bee)
Not sure if we are nerds/loser, but we are the best bunch of constant readers. We go deep when we read Sk books!!
I love Uncle Steve's response. I was thinking dancing hives are what I get when I stay in my sweaty zumba wear too long after a workout. Watch out for that!
Dancing hives isn't so much about what they are as where.
...that might well sully the Board's collective image of ourselves...
