I am new to Stephen King, and am looking forward to starting The Dark Tower. Have been reading about it on the Web, and was interested in things that influenced Stephen, such as Lord of The Rings and The Good, Bad and Ugly. Was wondering if Roger Zelazny's Amber stories had any bearing, and also Michael Moorcock's Eternal Champion series?

I haven't read the Moorcock, but I have read Zelazny, and I didn't see influences from that series. I could have missed them, I suppose, but... no.

Welcome :)

...some others....the obvious-"Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came" a poem by Robert Browning written in 1855....the King Arthur/Merlin mythos....Isaac Azimov, T.S. Eliot, L. Frank Baum and maybe more-but I think that's the major players....
