For me, it would be Stephen Leacock, Oscar Wilde, and Samuel Clemens. I do love humour.
I would like to spend time with Barbara Michaels(Murtz) not only to discuss her delicious ghost stories but to discuss Egyptology since it was her doctorate and my favourite topic.
Who would you like to meet?

No doubt about it- John Steinbeck, hands down. For me, Steinbeck's humanity shines through his written works. Next would be Michael Crichton- I think it would be great to talk to someone who knew so much about so many things. I don't think it would be a boring conversation.

Oh wow ... where do I start?

Mark Twain, I guess, but I would want to meet him when he was young and not quite so bitter as he would become. Raymond Carver, certainly. Robert Sheckley. Booth Tarkington. Sherwood Anderson. Flannery O'Connor . . . I dunno . . .

All of 'em.

Oscar Wilde would be great to drink with. I'd like to have a foursome dinner with Grandma, Robert Browning, and Elizabeth Barrett Browning, and get a Scotch recommendation from Mr. Browning. Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) would be fun to swap stories with: "Tell me again what you think of James Fenimore Cooper." Homer would be great, except I'd spend the whole time saying, "I can't understand a single word coming out of your mouth." And Gracious Host seems like an entertaining guy to sit down with for some quiet time.
