Not sure if this has been posted already, but here goes anyway just in case (I took a look but could not find this on the board, but I certainly still could have missed it, so a moderator can delete if necessary; Bev Vincent perhaps already noted this somewhere):

What’s Behind Stephen King’s Hollywood Renaissance? | Deadline

Please note the clever take on The Breathing Method; Jason Blum is involved in that.

I wonder how many of these projects will actually survive to completion.

as i was reading it, i thought to myself that it probably had something to do with a younger generation of readers discovering him. turned out to be pretty close (if not totally right, not sure what the ages are on any of these film makers who have made it their business to adapt his works). here's hoping the wave of projects keeps coming. i like that It is buzzing at comic con.

A Pet Sematary remake huh? Nice.

I do hope whomever takes the helm and sits in that coveted director's chair doesn't turn it into another dime a dozen slasher film. Mary Lambert, who was lucky to be able to film in Maine and had the added bonus of having King's screenplay (and blessing), did a wonderful job aesthetically but, to be kind, other components left a lot to be desired.

It was in the contract when the film rights to PS were sold that it had to be filmed in Maine. Steve made sure of it.

Yes, I remember him saying this. She was lucky in the sense that many directors don't have so many details leaning in their favor. I hope it is filmed in Maine again.
While I do like the original version (there are many things to like in it such as Fred Gwynne), I thought the two lead actors just were out of their league. The Mother just didn't come off as very motherly to me. And, it went 'slasher' movie at the end when it didn't need to. But, that little boy's laughter still creeps me out and don't even get me started on Zelda! YIKES!!!!

Yes, "out of their league", that is a great way to say it. This is the part I was trying to pussyfoot around. Fred Gwynne was fantastic.
I remember the part where young Rachel is trying to save Zelda from choking, beating on her skeletal, warped back. Mary brought that scene to life.

Hopfully they can get a new little girl who knows how to act. The first one was annoying.
