Update on History Fair.
I published it with the sole purpose of getting it into the hands of Robert Downey Jr and his people. I sent copies to his publicist, his agent and his production company.
And I heard back.
They opened my packages, took a look at my books and read my letter... then sent them back.
They very politely told me that they can't officially accept material regarding the movie until it's fully funded.

And ya know what? I'm fine with that. Because UNOFFICIALLY, they had my book in their hands. They saw it.
As of right now, the project is "The untitled Hunter Scott project." Now, they've seen the title I gave it. There are no guarantees in this world, especially the Hollywood world. But they saw it. That's as much as I hoped when I sent it.
Nothing may ever come of it, but I'm delighted.

How awesome! That's something to be proud of.

Congratulations on you getting it into their very hands! AND now they know who you are, what you got and how to contact you! All things are possible. :snowman:

Have I ever explained why I chose to use the name Depp?
I kept my married name after the divorce because I had kids with that name. I didn't really care for my maiden name anyway, so it wasn't a big deal.
Years went by, kids grew up, life went on.
Then, a few years ago, I got a green light to pursue a project that made me really happy. And, as luck would have it, my ex called me.
I made the mistake of thinking that he's a human being I could talk to. I said: "Dude, I just got a job I'm really excited about!"
Without skipping a beat, he said: "What street corner?"
In less time than it took to think it, I knew that I didn't want his name anymore. I wanted nothing to do with him. He doesn't get to see his name on my books.
On a lark, I thought about which name would best serve my work. It would have to be either Pitt or Depp. And, while Jeannie Pitt has a certain right to it, but Jeannie Depp just rolls off the tongue. So I ran with it.
It didn't occur to me that I was just trading one guy's name for another, and I considered changing it.
Then along came Depp's drama, being accused of abuse by his (now ex) wife. I'm not going to get into the topic any more than to say that I don't believe it for a second. And I felt like if I dropped his name, it would come across as just another rat jumping ship. I didn't want to do that. But I also didn't want to be just another person that took something from him. I was absolutely conflicted. Keep it or change it?
After a LOT of thought, I decided to keep it. Not to use him, and not despite (or because of) any (unfounded) allegations leveled against him. I'm not keeping it because of him at all.
In the end, it's just me in my skin, here. Whether I succeed or fail, I'm responsible for it. Just me, on my own. For better or worse.
Me, I'm betting on success, in whatever measure.
