Watched part 1,will watch the other one later..thanks Sheemie. It does make for interesting viewing..I hate to be the killjoy though, and I know they said they had psychiatrists and doctors monitoring, but I can't help but wonder what kind of long term effect this might have on a person's mental health..I mean,a long term, sustained shock of thinking the world as you know it is over and keeping them on edge wondering what is going to happen, then all of a sudden surprise! just a tv show,pal..I really hope it doesn't get to this kid too much..thanks for going to all that effort to post it,Sheemie, you are a dude..

no worries Mjs , he does say all the candidates get councilling after his stunts, and there have been some beauties.

it's like playing out fantasies for real and not realising it, and there are loads of survivalists out there that have itchy trigger fingers praying for the day they can play Robert Neville !

First, I admit I only watched clips here and there of these videos. Then, I searched around the Internet for a while trying to get a better grasp of what this guy does. My one question is why? Is this entertainment to people? I find it such a waste of time on the part of everyone involved. What am I missing? Is this what we've come to? We're so jaded we have to make people think the world is ending just to amuse us?

yip

it's a fantasy for a lot of folks out there.

like Westworld

like Jurassic park

the deeper meaning is taking your family for granted, and wasting life. the point of this experiment was to give that young guy what he wanted, then, once he realised what he had lost, wish he had done more with it.
it's not the entertainment value CYB - it's the shock of realisation. I urge you not to judge until you have watched it completely. it's very emotional.

watching 'clips' then saying its a waste of time is missing the whole point. I'd love to hear your view after you sat through the show this is an experiment - real/fake good/ bad - some of his stuff is weird agreed, but others are like self held hypnosis - like quitting smoking or helping with fear of flying - (which is another great show)

totally understand what you are saying Sheem..I can't help but wonder if this doesn't damage someone though,I mean that I had suffered with shock from a real life event, and it was tough, don't know if I will ever shake it.I don't think it is good to fool with people's perception of reality, even though the end result may be good..that being said,I will be watching the second installment either tonight or tomorrow.. ;)

Watched part two tonight..I see it as both entertainment, and also social engineering, trying to manipulate someone into being a "better" person..I just can't sign on.If it was me,I would be tremendously pissed off,of course he did volunteer to some extent, but not for all that..what,when you come down to it,and you realize you are still the same person, but was used as a tool or plaything, does the person do to come to grips with it?Just not for me,I guess,I prefer the escapism that I know is just that in films and books..but that is just me,each to their own..so rock on and enjoy,Sheemie, thanks again for going to the effort of putting it out there! ;)

roger that!

I enjoy them, but I know it's not everybodies cup of tea. I'm fascinated with the whole hypnosis / suggestive idea for bettering people, one poor guy was put to sleep in a London photo booth- then they shipped him off to Morocco complete with photo booth and woke him in a town square !

when he left the booth and walked out into the bazaar - his face was a picture

thanks for trying it out
