- Castle Rock doesn't exist, either, but Rob Reiner named his production company after the fictitious King town. His first film was Stand By Me.
(Knew you'd sleep better tonight knowing that.)

Unfortunately, it isn't a real location, but as others have mentioned, it is based on other Maine cities and you can probably find most of the landmarks actually exist somewhere in the area. I recall someone putting together a list of that stuff, like the Paul Bunyan statue, etc. ... I'll have to see if I can find that.Is it a real city? my bad if this is a stupid question but i have never been on the East coast. Would be amazing if it was i would go there.
Bangor has most of the real sites mentioned as being in Derry, including the Paul Bunyan statue, the Standpipe, the canal, the Barrens (although there is no landfill or sewer pump station that I'm aware of), and probably others that I'm not recalling at the moment.Unfortunately, it isn't a real location, but as others have mentioned, it is based on other Maine cities and you can probably find most of the landmarks actually exist somewhere in the area. In the interim, here is a map of Stephen King's Maine that you can find right here on this lil' old website

Thanks! I had a feeling you would be able to recall that info, but I didn't want to put you on the spotBangor has most of the real sites mentioned as being in Derry, including the Paul Bunyan statue, the Standpipe, the canal, the Barrens (although there is no landfill or sewer pump station that I'm aware of), and probably others that I'm not recalling at the moment.
I think Moxie was the reason they invented the phrase, "That will put hair on your chest!"I would love to go to Maine and visit Bangor, it would be even better if there was a Derry, Maine. I would also love to see Lisbon falls, and get a moxie from frank.
Btw, there is a Derry in Ireland too.
Maybe I'll leave the moxie then, I don't need anymore chest hair - I make Ron Jeremy look like he's just hit puberty.I think Moxie was the reason they invented the phrase, "That will put hair on your chest!"
In that case, I'd definitely suggest the root beer float instead!Maybe I'll leave the moxie then, I don't need anymore chest hair - I make Ron Jeremy look like he's just hit puberty.
What a mental image.....sorry about that
Oh, yeah - I'd forgotten about that. It's south of Denver, right? There is a Castle Rock, CO, though
I'm not sure exactly where it is, but you're probably right. My uncle who lives in Colorado Springs sends me random Derry pics (my whole extended family is well aware of my addiction )--that's why I know it existsOh, yeah - I'd forgotten about that. It's south of Denver, right?

We used to have it but dropped it with the last site revision as it needed some changes and we hadn't had the time to do that.I thought there was some sort of map on this site but couldn't find it at first. Thanks so much for the link!
That's one of the mistakes we needed to fix. After looking at that map, isn't Jerusalem's Lot in the wrong place? I always thought it was more toward Falmouth in the Cumberland County area?
