This is a series out of Denmark, subtitled on Netflix. It took me a little bit to get into this one. I think the language is so choppy, it made the acting seem stiff. But, I'm getting into the flow of the characters and I'm digging the language now.

It's a series of different crimes that the main character, a journalist, gets tangled in. It usually focuses 2 episodes per crime and then they move onto the next thing.

Yeah, it's not bad and I'm enjoying it, mostly just because it is foreign and I like to see customs, languages, scenery.

I've been wondering about this one. I generally enjoy Scandinavian movies and tv. I finished WITNESSES, by the way, and enjoyed it very much! Thanks!

Oh good. I do hope there is another season for the cinematography alone. I absolutely loved their settings.
It was beautiful, and I really liked the main cop lady. I thought there was too much made of the 'lost love' angle, but that's been a theme in quite a few French movies, TV shows, and books that I've read. Britain has a similar thing with adoption--so many 'twists' revolve around, "Oh no! I found out as an adult that I'm adopted and now my life is in a complete whirl!" Neither thing strikes me as being as big a deal as they make it out to be, so I guess those must be cultural fears (like the Japanese thing with jerky movements--that goes back to the way many affected people moved after the atomic bombs were dropped) that don't translate to America as well.

The main character, Dicte, gave a son away as a baby. Well, she was forced too, her parents were Jehovah Witness and forced her. She has no contact with them, and the adoption does figure in as a side thing in almost every episode. This isn't a spoiler by the way. ha!

LOL! Got it :) Maybe that's a cultural nerve there--giving up children. Something to think about.

I finished the first season and really liked it. Again, it was a slow go at first, had a real struggle with these characters, but it picked up and pleasantly surprised. I would watch another season.

I am now on Season 3 of this. Really have come to embrace these characters.

And I am so pissed, they just
killed off my favorite character, John Wagner.
It's the last season so of course they will do these things, but damn, come on!

I love foreign series too. I'll have to check this out.

It's a slow burn at first until you wet your palate and get into the flow of it all, but, honestly, I've enjoyed it.

Hey, did you see the second season of Witnesses, or only the first? I have just started the second season and it has started off very promisingly. I'm looking forward to it. I was worried because the main guy leaving the show -- Thierry Lhermitte. I liked him. Wasn't sure I could embrace the girl alone, but, I'm giving it a go.

I didn't know there was a second season! I'll have to search that out--thanks again :)
