He might mean that he inspired some of the later characters. I remember having a GI Joe figurine back around 1970. Good article, I like the file card. Sneak Peek and Crystal Ball.

Pretty cool little bit of info. I had both of these when I was a kid, had no idea. Wish I would of kept them.
