So often we forget that we are here on Earth for a limited time, we get caught up in trying to please other people all the time, or spend all day just doing what we're told, or watching the news and worrying about the future. We forget that the present moment is the most important time of our lives!

So, what did you do nice for yourself today? Was it a cup of tea, a good book, some chill-out time with your favorite TV show? Did you get a manicure, or a massage, or buy yourself an ice cream cone? Did you get to spend some quiet time on a nature hike, or some fun time rocking out to some loud music?

Let's hear what good things you did for yourself today! And remember you deserve something good just for yourself once in a while, and don't let anyone make you feel guilty about it--they're just jealous!

I'll get this started: Today I bought myself a few new movies on Blu-Ray!

Not really. I tend to read and watch old movies. Sometimes just not thinking about things gets me through the day until OH gets home from work.
When my kids were young, and they would be gone for a weekend visit with their dad, I spent a lot of time reading. I had/have struggles sometimes with being alone in the house. Sometimes I just go thru things randomly, sort junk drawers, organize closets...but I agree with you a hundred percent sometimes just not thinking or having to think about anything is a good feeling!

I am the one who has to take care of everything financial. Trying to be creative when it comes to budgeting, file taxes, etc. Sometimes I wish that someone else could do this for me.

I realize that I don't know you personally, but I am proud of you for your undertaking of these matters! For many, many years I had to do everything, cooking, mowing, cleaning, working, paying the bills...my kids helped me out as much as they could, but they had homework, sports etc. Now that I am lucky enough to have Brad, we work together on these things and it is so nice to have someone to share the responsibilities with!

Thank you, Jude. I appreciate that. My daughter lives a couple of thousand miles away now but she calls me every second day at least just to check on me because the past couple of years have been extremely stressful for me and OH. Thankfully, he was there for me all the way.

I've actually been doing something nice for myself every day since last weekend. I am looking for a new job; one that will allow me to work from home and be happier and healthier physically and mentally. I turn 54 next week and I suddenly realized I need to work at least 10 more years before I can retire. I have been at my current job for just about 10 years and I am totally burned out. I have a job that many people would envy; when I tell people what I do for a living they almost always say, "Cool. That must be exciting and fun." At one time it was, but these days it isn't. I am tired of being the backbone of my department and not getting paid what I should for the quality and amount of work I do. Also, the physical conditions of the offices I work in (and if you knew what multibillion $$ company I work for, you'd be shocked) are deplorable. Lastly, the needy, crazy bunch I work with is driving me bananas. If I could work from home at this position, I would tough it out some more. But they won't allow it. So, they are going to lose me. A number of other very good people recently have left/are leaving. The writing is on the wall and I have read it!
