Ok I appolize if this has already been stated, but first of all the director of the. Ovie really should have never said that their was going to be a gay "sceen" I am 99.9% positive it will just be like a small kiss or him holding gastons body and being really upset that gaston died at the end. I really think that is all it is. People are just getting to upset about it really, it's not like they are going to have gay sex, and yes choosing the fat stupid character to be gay is dumb.

You bet I'll help look out for this kid. In 8th grade when my daughter was being bullied and had begun cutting herself, this friend stepped in and made sure my child was safe at scool and had a friend to sit with at lunch. They still have sleepovers at my house, and is the first person my daughter invites on day trips, etc. Sometimes, I get mixed up and call him by his female name instead of the male name he chose, but this kid knows I genuinely care and that I'm sincere in my acceptance. Every day when I pick up my daughter from school, she always tells me her friend says hi and loves me. That's a pretty good feeling.

Same here, with my daughter's best friend. They've stuck together since 5th grade, so sometimes I not only slip into the original name, I forget they're not 11 anymore. Chris' parents have been pretty non supportive, but he's always welcome here

Doesn't really affect my opinion on this either way, as I don't even see a point in watching something that was already done beautifully with traditional animation 26 years ago- I actively cringe every time I hear some of the line readings in the live action trailers compared to the original ones of the 1991 animated film. I'm assuming that like so many other live action rehashes this isn't really meant for me, anyway; I actively grew up with the original, and that will always be Beauty and the Beast for me. This feels aimed more at younger people who may have seen the original film at some point but don't have much nostalgia attached to it (and who actually know who Emma Watson is, I guess.)

As for the issue at hand, it's not the first time an older character with no previously specified preference has been "re-imagined" as gay because he was originally effeminate or otherwise stereotypical- I feel this issue could be avoided if people would actually MAKE NEW STUFF with interesting, fully realized characters who might also happen to be gay. But that's just me, I guess.

My 13 year old made the comment yesterday, "I feel bad that all these little kids will grow up knowing Emma Watson as Belle, before they know her as Hermione."=D Until this thread, I didn't realize it was an exact remake of the animated film. Seems like a missed opportunity, for sure.

I do like the love action remakes but I have only seen Cinderella and just loved it, but then I am not emotionally attached to Cinderella, as I am with bell, not shure if I will see it in the theature. The whole gay thing pisses me off, as the director is trying to portray it as some sort of totally progressive sceen witch I know it will not be, not at all.. and why did they get the guy who voices Olaf as a character in this movie? All I can hear is Olaf? And Emma Watson is the right person for belle. Orperhaps how they whant to protray belle. I think they are going a bit to "c)$&nt power with her, the original belle is just right, still feminine and tough

You know, I never thought of it that way. (Don't worry, I'm sure they're start remaking the Harry Potter movies in ten years or so, and then no generation will be able to speak to another without confusion...)

I'm just tired of the constant recycling at this point. Things like live action Cinderella and The Jungle Book I can accept, because the original Disney films are much older and somewhat middling in quality for the studio, but Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King are masterpieces in part because they were animated (both for pushing the limits of the medium to be beautiful and for telling stories best suited to it.) All I can think is that this push toward live action in general is so that attractive actors and actresses can also be used to promote them, and that makes me sad.

Yes I agree with you. I do not mind the live action, I really liked Cinderella but I think they used Cinderella as a test to,see whether or not live action movies of animated movies whould seel and it did with Cinderella. I am assuming they will do them untill they stop doing well at th box office. I am Hoping with both the dark tower movie this summer and IT out in the fall Stephen king will bring back a different type of movie, ie thrillers, something different then princess live action and superhero movies. We will see.. but I hope he brings back thrillers

Cinderella was amazing, both the story and costumes and special effects, but I do not know how they are going to do the lion king??? That whould really stay animated. I wish they whould have confused with the 3D animation but they stoped it due to low sales. I am hoping they will not do the little mermaid, but I think they will. I am really torn to the rest of the live action movies as I am so emotionally tied to the animated versions especially the little mermaid. I am not shure I will go and see beaty and the beast in theatures. I may just rent it on demand

The Lion King was turned into a Broadway play and was quite amazing from what I understand. =D
