I've been drawing and writing for most of my life and i'm just now getting to where I like my own stuff. Believe it or not I got an F every year in art class, all the way through middle school to high-school, my teacher was this cranky native American man who thought drawing should be done a certain way. He didn't like the weird stuff I would draw, but I guess in his defense I wasn't very good back then. Creative, but not good. All of my drawings were morbid just to be morbid and it took me awhile to realize that it was okay for my work to be morbid but there has to always be a reason. I got into a lot of fights with my parents over the stuff I was drawing, so much so that my dad ripped one of my sketchbooks to pieces.

What I really like about drawing/writing is the creative process, I find it fascinating that you can start with an idea and then as you work on it it becomes something completely different from your original vision.

I loved to draw when I was younger. I still can to some extent when the grandkids are asking for a picture of a dragon or a mermaid or something, but I was more skillful at it back then.

Yeah, I've been known to write a bit. Blog, stories, all that.

I've been drawing since I was small; I can't stop. I also make lots of things with Sculpey clay, like beads and landscapes. I will occasionally paint. I went to college for art, and came out with a metalsmithing/jewelry degree, although I lack the personal tools and equipment to continue with the metalsmithing. Anvils and torches are expensive! It was fun while it lasted. Now that I'm at a "restart" point in my life, I am seriously considering my options as far as doing something more with my art. Illustrating children's books was always a dream of mine. Or even just selling some of my personal jewelry line on the side of my 9-5 design job.
I always tried to write, and I still keep a journal, but I could never get a plot in my head with a real beginning and end. I am best at little vignettes of half-conceived notions that start off somewhere in the middle.

I love to write. All of my efforts have been short stories. I started a novel, got about 150 pages in and realized I had painted myself into a corner. I think I've got a way out, now all I need is time. I was able to get one of my short-short stories published in the latest Writer's Digest contest, which was pretty cool (I placed 8th - believe me, I'll take it).

I can't draw a lick. Terrible, I mean stick-figures are a challenge to me. Oddly enough, all three of my children seem to have a talent in this area. I wish I had it.
