Do you ever wonder what all these people are texting about 24/11? What is there so darn important about to be constantly talking or texting? When they are finally in the same room with the folks they are chewing the fat with, they ignore them and text somebody else.

Do you ever wonder why a lot of the weird news stories come from Utah?....and, yes, I have some good friends from Utah lol. But, sometimes, I think the air is thinner there and people are deprived of oxygen.

Yes, I do wonder about who is available for texting all the time. I also wonder why it is socially appropriate to ignore the person that is talking to them in the same room.

I absolutely hate to be with someone and they start texting. Now, I will say, if someone forewarns me that they are expecting an important phone call or text, than I am totally cool.

If I am with someone, my focus is on them. If I hear a ding on my phone, I may glance at it to make sure it is not one of my kids and an emergency -- but if it isn't, then that person can wait. The person I am with is what is important to me at that moment.

I'm with you on this one, sister.

One of the saddest things I've seen (and it's been more than once) is a married couple, presumably out on Date Night, where one party is busy texting/posting on social media the entire evening while the other party chews their food in silence.

That's a dealbreaker for me. I can barely hold a conversation with someone with a radio on in the background, so you can imagine how completely alone I'd feel if I were out with my beloved and this happened.

Because of this, I do not keep a cell phone. I have a pre-paid cell which isn't a Smart Phone and I only put a few minutes in it now and then. I feel like people are losing their humanity to their Smart Phones and are also becoming bigger jerks. I feel better without one. I read an article that says young people today send thousands of texts a month. The worst is when I see people texting and driving, or texting and rolling through a stop sign. I think people are physiologically addicted to texting.

I feel like if you are with a group of people on purpose, as in your choice socially, you should pay attention to them. If I ever get a date and he keeps looking at, and using his phone while we are together I just don't go out with him again. Guys do it all the time, it's obnoxious. You're on a date checking your Facebook, Twitter and texting?!

If I go somewhere alone, like a coffee shop, or a pub, and someone wants to force a conversation on me that I just don't want to have, a Smart Phone is a great deflection from creepers. Just because someone chooses to be in the same room as me, that doesn't mean I owe them a conversation or any acknowledgement.

:typing: I should carry a broken Smart Phone and pretend to be too busy to use it when creepy guys come up to me. :icon_idea:

I hate texting alot. If it's just to find out what kind of cereal somone at home wants while you're at the grocery store, then fine, but I can't stand to do it for even three minutes. One of my sister's does the long texting and I always tell her 'Hey, calls are free, ya know?' That's nips it in the bud!

If I receive a text while I'm talking to someone and I feel the need to answer right away, I excuse myself from the conversation long enough to text that I'll "brb", then return to with whom I was speaking. I rarely receive phone calls from friends but rather texts, so if the phone rings (and I'm awake) I look to see who's calling before I answer. Usually it's an unidentified number, which I have no choice but to screen.

Oh, all of the above I do almost never driving.

Yep, I do wonder about texting. And I laughed REALLY hard about Utah--it does seem like that. Right now we have a 'Vampire Trucker'--let me see if I can find the news story from this morning. This is a TRIPPY state.

Caught it and thank ya! If I were ever in your country I might be able to figure things out as some of our words are almost spelled alike. Some of them. Others I would be totally lost with!
