I've never had a cell phone and the SKMB is my first foray into social networking. A friend of mine pointed out the other day that, because I did not have a phone, I would most likely be a candidate for 'suspicious behaviour' and watched by whatever organizations are doing the watching nowadays. Let 'em look, they'll soon get bored. As far as etiquette goes I've always thought human contact should trump the gadget. Since joining the SKMB I can see how people are always checking up on things. I find when I leave a comment or two on this board I'll check back to see if I got any 'likes'.

But, if you don't have a cellphone, then you're not on the 'grid', so how are those others going to find you (when you're not on the computer checking your 'likes', that is)? ;-D

Behind you
Well I am glad you picked us for your social networking. This is the only place I do anything on line (social)
I will make sure to like you every time, Mal! (I always enjoy your posts)
I have never gotten anything (ads and such) that would let anyone know that I was here.

I get annoyed and paranoid a bit when I am shopping prices for something and all of the sudden all of my ads are about that thing I was looking for. errr.

Never got anything like that ever from SKMB, nope nothing wrong here.
(see what I did there?)

I think when this thread first came out, I was afraid I'd get banned or shunned because I live on my cellphone.

I mean, not really. When I'm with other people, the phone is put away. Many time I've been at a table and everyone has their cell phone out. I'll say loudly and jovially, "Socializing in the new millennium!" and people either look at me like I'm nuts or they don't hear me at all. Once in a great while, I'll take a picture of the table doing that.

But doggone it, I have a family that keeps in touch and I have work that keeps in touch. If I get a text, I'll look quickly, and if it might be urgent - Grandma hears a strange noise, along at home? grandkid is stuck at a party without a ride? adult kid needs a ride from a bar? - I'll say, "Excuse me. I need a moment to check on this." It's got its own degree of rude, but sometimes there's good reason for being in constant contact.

Other than that, I don't use the phone much. Well, it's saved my financial butt more times than I can count to answer an email quickly. Oh, and the navigation to get to places I'm not familiar with. Well, and banking on the phone. And the phone case carries the four (4) cards that I need to run my life, so I don't have a billfold anymore. I use the calculator frequently. And the flashlight. And the alarm clock. And the office and personal calendar. And the news feed. And once in a while, the camera. And...

Well. You get the drift. No games. No fun apps. And yeah, I text all the time. Even with Grandma, who's a late convert to the smartphone world. She takes a weird pride in it.

I'll like your comment - just to show I don't find you all that 'suspicious'! :adoration::semi-twins:
