I hadn't been on the SK website for a few years, then one day I thought of it and went on. That was the week Doctor Sleep had been announced and it was the first thing I saw (and the first time I had heard of the book). Maybe this is coincidence, or maybe I Shine?

Any other experiences like this?

Well, I have had "premonitions" in sleep, a couple of times. I can remember two work related dreams, first about getting temporarily laid off, then getting fired. Both cases came true. Or maybe it's just plain pessimism...

I don't believe in a supernatural shine but I do think we are more connected to things than our conscious mind realizes. If we can just relax and trust our instincts and listen to the music of the universe, we can connect a lot more dots and open more doors than we realize. Mostly we know the answers already but we refuse to listen and we overcomplicate things.

I don't read minds or hear people's thoughts, but I was an empath before Deanna Troi made it cool. I sometimes feel people's emotions, especially when they're lying to me. Basically, a human BS detector. The trick is deciding when to call 'em on it, and when to let it slide.
I tend to avoid small crowds, because there are a lot of people out there that carry around some pretty ugly emotions. More than polite people might think. The good inside most peoples' hearts balances everything out. Usually.

Are you a Scorpio? We're good at reading people.

Very very similar experience.

I had been a regular member of a message board for Clan of the Cave Bear series of books. The board I went to was similar to this group in that, here we have Ms Mod, and there, there was someone officially associated with the author.

There was talk of another book...or two books...or maybe a book. And after about five years after Shelters of stone was released, I was going to the board less and less. One day, I just decided to search for it again. (Different computer, so nothing saved.) I arrived within a day of the release date of Painted Caves being announced. There was nine years between this two books. If it had been announced on the news I had not seen it.

Sounds like you shine to me. The ability to listen to the music of the universe is what it's all about. :barbershop_quartet_member:

Same here Leplady. I am definitely an empath too. It started in first grade. I can definitely sense others' emotions around me, positive and negative. Not sure how I got this way, but it's a gift that sometimes hurts me but at other times brings me joy.

In the Shining, Dick told Danny about how all moms shine a little. I believe that. I had a feeling I would get a call from my son's school one day (he wasn't sick that morning) I ended up getting a call because he got hurt on the play equipment. I think as moms, whether it's from experience or feeling, you get a little more sharp, especially with your kids. With everything else, including husbands, not so much.
